Dark red. Aromas of red fruit. Medium bodied, smooth, minimal tannins. Flavors of red cherries. It was very easy to drink. I was surprised it was as good as it was given its age and expected drinking window. Went well with a Dijon crusted roasted chicken dinner.

Dark red with aromas of red fruit. It was balanced, smooth, medium tannins and body. It had flavors of red cherries and oak and was very easy to drink. The after taste was medium, smooth and had hints of chocolate.

Very nice red mix, the merlot and Syrah are easy to pick up. Strong flavor of red/black fruits with earthy finish. When first opened the tannins were strong to the taste, but mellowed out nicely with the second glass the next day. Very nice every day wine, I would recommend. And I paid$13.99 for it, feel that it was worth it.

About what I was expecting. Not much on the nose, drab fruit, and one-sided. Not disappointed, but was hoping for better. This falls in the pack with other $8 wines.

This was a nice new red blend discovery for me. Super dark, inky purple color that reminded me of a Petit Sirah. Nose of dark red/blue/black fruit(s), with a hint of cola, cedar and dirt. Big, sweet dark fruit notes on the palate with spice (black pepper) and cedar. Heavy duty tannins at first that seemed to mellow after a little time, but a nice balance I thought. Not sure where other users found this for $8, because I paid $13.50 for it. For $8/bottle, I would definitely go buy a case. At $13.50, the QPR is obviously not quite as good. Still, I thought it was a good American "Meritage" effort and I will buy again. Hopefully, it will go on sale.

Good blend. Very fruit forward with light tannins, tasted exactly like an American Merlot/Syrah blend, not getting much of the Cab, a bit sweet. Not a lot of depth but easy drinking. Good price.

Mediuim dark in color and intensity, with aromas of black cherry and currant, which follow to palate in a medium-light, rather simple experience. Nice fruit flavors, good with food, with barely-present and smooth tannins. Great at the price, and generally well-made.

An almost there excellent wine. If keeping score, not quite a blend like the 2009 Rook...Maybe Petite Syrah instead of Syrah. Maybe more Melot than Cab. Eitherway, an enjoyable, very good wine.

On the nose this wine has notes of bell pepper, clove, licorice, and cedar. Unexpectedly fruit-forward on the palate, there are hints of spice, dark cherry, and stone fruits. The finish is a bit short but quite pleasant with a nice dryness and slight vanilla flavor. Great wine for this price point...will definitely buy again. This wine really held it's own with barbecued pork chops.

A very moderate blend. Nothing striking or overwhelming on either the nose or the palate. A good balance of dark fruits, not much tannin presence to speak of, little development in the midpalate or the finish, but a very good overall "structure" and an enjoyable dinner wine.

I found this in the kitchen pantry. This was a gift wine. Paired with a NY strip steak. Cranberry red with some purple in color. Light fragrant nose of sweet black fruit. Light on the entry and in body weight with blackberry and black cherry notes with some watery spice mixed in. Unfortunately, everything disappears on the mid palate and finish. It works as a food wine, as it melds quickly when the food tastes take over, but, it's really not that interesting. Fair to Good.

Ok, but not special. In fairness this is a $10 bottle, but I had hoped for more with this Cabernet -Merlot -Syrah blend, but it never quite came together. There are moments where the cab shines through, but that quickly disappears. Still looking for the elusive $10 daily drinker.

Had 2 glasses after dinner at Vero Midtown NYC. Found it sweet & woodsy w/ripe dark berry & plum notes. Soft & round, medium-bodied & moderate finish. 45% Merlot, 39% Cab & 16% Syrah blend.

What I'm saying is, this is the American equivalent of the wonderful low-priced Kermit Lynch labeled French wines. Every day drinkers. The world needs these; I need these, so that I can have bottle open a day or two and not care if it is finished. Toss and open another one. The Kermit Lynch labeled Vauclose and Rhone bottles are in this category, so is the wonderful St Martin de la Garrigue Bronzinelle slightly higher in prices; and the Washington State CMS is right there.

Juicy sweetness on the attack which is balanced by an undercurrent of tart fruit and excellent acidity. A wonderful companion for food and delicious on its own as well. Silky tannins lend nice structure. The blueberry and pepper of the Syrah really shine through. A bit rudimentary perhaps, but astonishingly good for the price.

Domestic New Releases Tasting (Binny's, St. Charles): Crimson color. Has a Rhonish quality to the bouquet- the Syrah dominates in my opinion. Red fruit, herbs and subtle meaty undertones make for an enjoyable bottle at the price point. $11.99.

The first "blend" in WA state. This set a case for marketing "region" over varietal. This was the first to due it, it was the released in 1987. There was a swedish government quota story here. And then they bought it as a northern latitiude, just below Bordeaux wine. The syrah is there to enrich it a touch.
"Much grainer tannins, and that is because the the declassified lots of the Hedges go into this."
