  • Another on our list of Singles in the Cellar. Gave this a bit of air before consuming alongside roast chicken. Very old school Gevry nose with darker fruits, wood spice, some barrel toast, a little dustiness. The palate is lean and on the dry side. There's a good deal of burgundy goodness here, but in a very austere style that a lot of people who don't think they like burgundy think of as typical. And it is typical, just not the only kind of typical. I think this wine is one of many 96's that simply don't have the fruit to ever blossom into something I'd consider balanced maturity. The structure continues to dominate as the fruit fades. We enjoyed drinking this, but did not find a great deal of joy in it. The toasty notes combined with the dryness was a challenge, though the nose remained compelling. If you're waiting for magic here, I don't think it's every going to happen.

  • Medium ruby red in color with ever-so-slight clearing at the edges. Forward, attractive & fragrant nose of ripe fruits of red cherries, raspberries and currants with earthy & floral overtones, truffles, lavender, forest floor, exotic Asian spices, minerals, smoky & and hints of sous-bois in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of red cherries, strawberries & currants with earthy, spices, mushrooms, minerals, a touch of toasty oak. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present and has some limited room for further development with an additional years or two of further aging.

  • Clear, ruby color. Clean, medium plus nose (after opening), mostly red but some black fruit, herbal, lavender. Bright, concentrated, rich flavours, mostly primary, some secondary. Medium tannins, full bodied, still has a ways to go. Medium to long finish. A pretty wine close to optimal drinking window.

Tried again 2/14/15 with same notes

  • Classic Woodsy Gevrey nose with faint dried dark fruits introduce very firm tannic dominated palate; it is doubtfull that this will ever full resolve as much of it is faded and the fruit gone.

  • One of the best example of Latricieres Chambertin. The typical scent, good structure, lovely powerful finished....delicious wine but still tannic...needs more aging time...

    Drink 2010 - 2019

  • This little beauty is entering its drinking window and starting to show some of the secondary characteristics that I love about Burgundy. Red cherries, sous bois, autumn leaves, spice and a little earth.
