Couleur vieil or de profondeur moyenne.

This is still surprisingly vibrant and alive at 15. I worried I’d held these too long. Enticing classic reisling nose. Good acidity and length on palate. A bit heavy in body and lacking the finesse to take it to greater heights

This bottle was MUCH better than the previous one I'd opened, which was quite flabby and badly oxidized. This is dark golden in color and has excellent acidity and barely perceptible sweetness along the lines of a tart ripe peach. A beautiful, perfectly balanced riesling starting to show some secondary signs of age...fantastic.

Lovely bright golden orange/yellow colour. Smells very oxidative, quite aldehydic and soapy. A little volatile. Reminds me of Chenin a little, in that it has a waxy, slightly honeyed, peaty, wet-hay character. Pretty interesting wine, has been markedly different from bottle to bottle. It opens up interestingly too, becomes more floral and zesty. It’s tangy and quite powerful on the palate but seems to exhibit more secondary/non-fruit characters, like grilled nuts, seaweed, marmalade... a bit of a saline thing happening in the background. So, doesn’t look like Riesling, doesn’t look like Alsace. Is quite oxidative in style so seems like it could come from anywhere. Nice wine nonetheless, if a bit weird, but not something I would confidently cellar for any longer.

Much better on the nose: white peach, lime coconut, caramel, mint and hints of minerality. Slightly sweet on the nose but dry on the palate, ripe and nice white peaches. Lacks some weight and grip, would be interesting to compare with the VT.

Another flabby and lifeless bottle. Hoping this is a dumb stage, but the bruised apple oxidative notes of the last two bottles (and not in a pleasant sense as I love properly oxidized wines) make me worry that this is a case of premox.

A little weird and disjointed here...high acidity, not enough fruit to fill in the rough edges. Seems ok at first but quickly transitions to an extended bitter finish.

Somewhat disappointing. Had a bottle of Austrian Riesling the other week from same vintage and must say I preferred that. Other tasti gnotrs described saline, iodine and honey. Was all these. Very yellow. Had with spicy pork so thought food would match. A big full wine. On second night it was more balanced, think it needed time open.

A bit volatile, soapy and has a gewurz-like character to the nose; rose-petal, potpourri, ethyl-acetate. Beautifully weighted palate which is a little viscous, and has a sweet spot but is completely dry. Nice sweet spice to the back palate, very herbal and with a crisp direct line of tangy acidity. Bit weird but I don’t mind it.

Great bottle. Popped and poured so it needed about 30 minutes to calm down and the complexity and long succulent finish to present. Great mix of flowers and citrus on the nose.

There is a ton going on here, both on the nose and the palate. Flowers and stone and herbs and spices. But at the end of the day, it's like drinking medicine as there is a seam of smoke and brine that arguably reminds me more of Islay Scotch than Alsatian wine. Don't get me wrong, I love Islay Scotch, but I understand the difference.

Domaine Ostertag Riesling (Winegate): Clear med lemon color. The nose is clean, med intensity but offering real complexity, filled with ripe fruits like apricot and peach, melon, tin pineapple, lingers on and reveals layers after layers in the glass, quince syrup, youthful. The wine feels off-dry, full body, med+ intensity and acidity, med alcohol (14%), ripe stone fruit, apricot and peach, quince and pineapple, balanced with lime sweetness, focused and complex, med/med+ finish. Outstanding quality, premium price, drinking now but can hold

Definitely improves with a few hours of air. Terrific nose of pear, lime, flowers, vanilla, Chinese BBQ pork, cotton candy, earth, and a whiff of alcohol. Spice, pear, orange, lemon, vanilla sugar, honey, and earth on the palate. Off dry, but good balancing acidity, medium body, good finish. The alcohol pokes out a bit too much for me though.

Thick but enough acid to round it out. Dried herbs, citrus, pears, flowers, honey, and tart apples. Paired nicely with smoked pheasant slathered with a Guinness glaze. Will hold remaining bottles to see where this goes.

the 2nd bottle of this was much more tame in comparison to the previous btl. Lots of lemon, lime, green apples, pears, light petro and honey. The Alc was still a bit boozy but not over the top. Great to experience Grand Cru Alsatian Riesling. I'm a fan.

Wow, this wine is massive. It's so thick it's similiar to a late harvest wine. The nose was chalk full of pear syrup, mineral, flowers, herbs, honey, wool, botrytis, slight petrol and lemon. This is one of the 1st whites i've had in a long time that needed to be decanted for quite a while. After decanting it was more honey comb, apples, mineral and botrytis. The alc in this spikes a lot. But everytime I think it's too much it balances itself out. Fun, fun, wine.

Pale straw color. Very deep nose, dominated by minerals. Nice medium weight, totally dominated by minerality. It was a tad sweet when I first opened it, but that died away over time. Nice finish. The only thing that kept me from enjoying it more was the alcohol - just a tad hot right now.
