Heather's Birthday Dinner (Wine and Roses Inn): Beautiful wine, bottle was from a trip to Spain and a visit to the Torres cellar. Classic RdD with great structure and acidity. Lovely and nicely developed.

Very tasty. Explosive aromas when first opened...spicy oak, cherry, cassis, leather...but toned down pretty quickly. Nicely balanced on the palette. It makes a pretty good steak wine. Don't see the need for a) further cellar time or b) decanting. At $18-20 this would be a no-brainer. At $30 it's a bit rich, IMO.

The wine looks Ruby colored. The legs are Medium. 1st day: disappointingly shallow nose and palate after about 1-2 h decanting. 2nd day: appealing dark berry aromas and flavors, nicely balanced and round. Still not awesome, but certainly worth the waiting.

Solid wine, but a tad overpriced (at least what I paid). Minerality and coffee dominated, so perhaps a touch too Earthy for the Mrs. I liked it more. A nice weekday drinker. Evolved nicely in the decanter, but ultimately nothing to write home about. And yet here I am writing...

WSET Advanced L7 Italy-Spain: Medium ruby, slow moving legs. Intriguing medium nose, developed, with aromas of ripe black currants, black plums, leather, vanilla. Dry, medium(-) acidity, medium(-) tannins, hot alcohol. Rich aromas of dark fruits, chocolate, oak, liquorice, spice. Body id not too heavy yet present, well balanced and a medium(+) finish. A wine with complex flavour aromas and a lot going for it. Value/money very good at AED 88.

Dark fruit, olives, black pepper, subtle wood. Well balanced on palate, good finish. This is a well made wine. The fruit and terroir speak for themselves.

Strange bottle. Different than the last couple. REALLY strong coffee on nose. Also strong coffee taste. Too overpowering. Just not as good as the last bottles. The second day the absurd amount of coffe had blown off and the normal taste came out. Still a good wine, but I think this bottle was .... off.

Quite nice QPR (under $15). Nose has a very heavy coffee and plum note. Nice strong plum, cassis, chocolate and heavy coffee on tasting with good minerality. No significant tannins or dryness that I found like some other tasters. Nice finish, alcohol & tannins seem well controlled. 2nd day finishes really well. fruit dissipates, chocolate and coffee predominant, tannins disappear entirely, although its strangely dryer. Quite a nice wine.

This is a really good daily drinker. Nose: spice, cassis, plum. Taste: Plum, blackberry, fig, spice, earthy. Alcohol is very in balance, nice long finish to about 30+ seconds. This is a really well made wine. Exceptional QPR.

Ripe berry fading to graphite and baking chocolate, finishing dry with a slight alcohol burn. Light to medium bodied. Vibrant for a Tempranillo with a persistent finish.

Nothing but oak upon opening but after sitting for 30 min, hints of berry came out. Firm tannins- I'd be curious to see how this mellows over another year our two.

I got none of the meat/bacon tones from last tasting, but one of my guests did. Still a bit surprising. To me, this bottle was fresher, with more both red and dark fruit. Good balance. Most likely the food pairing that brought out different characteristics.

Initially typical Ribera, with black cherry and blueberry on the nose and fruit with a touch of oak on the palate. After an hour or so I got loads of meat and bacon on the finish - almost Rhone-like. Very strange, will be interesting to see if the next bottle shows this as well. Good acidity, albeit both fruit and structure is a bit thin compared to e.g. Condado de Haza.

Ap: dark purple
Ar: touch of dark fruits and loads of oak
Full bodied and rather smooth, but inane palate.
Medium length
Again a wine that has been stored too warm in a restaurant. I guess the wine can show a better side.
