This is stunningly good. It’s aged way better than I ever predicted it would. About as good as (non 2004 Leroy) Bourgogne can be. Bright, mature, cherry tinged fruit. Floral. The palate is beautiful. Velvet. Pure. Decent depth. Decent complexity. Would put many a more prestigious bottle to shame. Drinking perfectly right now. Wow this is good. (90) hundred pointer for its level.

This is very different from all other experiences of that wine and in hindsight I went too quickly through close to a 12 case. Always to come out disappointed by scents and expressions I associate with overripe pinot and domineering varietal expression. This is starting to recede now and when there is terroir, decent plant material and skilled wine-making it ends up showing. So much for vintage generalizations. On sap and presence this would eclipse many a village wine from good producers. Tickles the mind as a good Burgundy does.

The fruit is bright and alive. Juicy red fruits which is a nice change from the thick skinned dark fruit of previous vintages. There's some greenery under it all. A vegetal character that makes you wish you had waited a few more years before opening this, but I enjoy the freshness of this now. Dark cherries, soy sauce, and that Chambolle silk texture. This is simplistic but on point.

Light, bright ruby color. Fresh red berries, a hint of earth, and some VA evident on the nose. Light bodied with very tart red fruit on the palate. Acidity is overpowering with little weight or structure. I was disappointed in this bottle as had enjoyed the ‘08.

Bright light cherry color. Ripe, juicy red berry fruit on the nose. Smooth yet vibrant palate shows very good quality for a Bourgogne. Quite delicious and will drink well for a few years. Not very complex but fun to drink. (87)

This was a little rough around the edges. Not sure it will improve. Good. Not great. Rough tannins ? Off day? Prior bottle seemed more enjoyable to me. Maybe I am a bit off today.

A charming wine, still very much in its youth. Fresh red berries, crisp acidity. Certainly a nice bottle now, but this tasting suggests better to wait some time before proceeding with others, and certainly to hold off better bottles (1er) for several years.
Rated 1 on a scale of -1 to 3.

Classic, Barthod restraint upon opening; ripeness and richness of vintage begin to unfold after 1 hour in decanter; still fresher than the most glorifed, Domestic Pinot Noir; not much more I expect from Bourgogne Rouge; will easily drink well for 5-10 more years.

Restaurant purchase. Light body consistent with its Bourgogne designation. Despite this, it had pleasant balance between cherry fruit and structure. Lacks the weight of her better bottlings but in line with its pedigree.

Very nice wine. Bright acidity holds together a mixture of tart fruits combined with licorice and tobacco notes. A little air made this sing. The nose was earthy with compost, fruit and ashtray.

Very good Bourgogne. Bright cherry is the best descriptor. Nose is rightfully youthful and there is a good wallop of back end tannin. However, the class that this wine displays is amazing. Great purity and refinement. I see a winner here to start drinking in earnest in 2017. Top drawer. (88)

Ruby in the glass, young and approachable with strawberry and earth notes, good acidity and balance, a good contrast to the 2006 Rivers Marie Summa, a superior Bourgogne

Very Beaujolais-like (not that that's necessarily a terrible thing) aromatically and on the palate. Fruitiness integrates over the course of the bottle. Finish slightly dry and truncated. Liked it but didn't love it, and can't call it a great QPR. Likely better a year from now.

While 2009 is a perfect vintage in many respects for Bourgogne Rouge, we need to keep in mind that it still remains only Bourgogne and not much better. This wine is certainly very fresh, intense and complex with a persistence on the finish; however, the nose reveals the wine's low birth, despite it being moderately deep and full, pure and nicely structured, with a sappy fruit, modest ripe tannins and good length.

Opened and poured, this wine gave a wonderful showing for its beautiful aromatics and overall balance. The aromatics show a pretty combination of red fruits, floral and spice notes. The bouquet emphasizes finesse and purity. The color is a light to medium ruby. The light to medium bodied palate continues the theme of the bouquet. Throughout its consumption the wines continues to emphasize purity and finesse. This drinks well now and may benefit from additional year or two of bottle age.

Higher tone and more freshness than many would expect from 2009. Plenty of life ahead.
