Burgundy For Lunch Bunch Holiday Event 2023 (Phoenix, AZ USA): I liked this when first poured, but it faded in the glass. At first it showed good power and intensity, some reduction, and I was thinking an aged Leflaive Chevalier. But with a bit of air it really started to fall off and I was leaning toward a tired vintage of Drouhin Laguiche Montrachet. Upon the reveal we would have hoped for more, but judging just by what was in the glass it would have been considered excellent on any other day -- today the competition blew it away.

From an excellent looking magnum, this wine had a deep yellow color and clear rims. Not surprisingly, the nose was rather tight at first. However, after several hours it displayed egg custard, citrus, vanilla, and white stone.
In the mouth, this wine was crisp and somewhat mono-toned at first. After several hours, it showed good richness but really emphasized its lovely balance and powerful acidity. It had good complexity and outstanding length.
This still seemed quite young and lively in magnum format. While this magnum would have easily lasted another decade, in general my view would be to look for reasons to pull the cork unless your bottle is absolutely pristine.

From a bottle purchased on release (.5 cm), this wine had a deep yellow center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose showed egg custard, citrus, vanilla, and white stone.
This wine was pretty darn good when first poured. However, after 4+ hours in a decanter, the flavors exploded in my mouth. It was ripe and rich with great weight, balance, and length. The balance, weight, strong acidity, and complex flavors would give most full Montys a run for the money.
Unlike the last bottle I had, this bottle was perfectly stored and was in great shape. This is drinking well but will certainly last 5+ years.

From a good looking bottle with a 1 cm fill, this wine had a light gold center and clear rims. I opened it because it looked a bit darker than another bottle I have. The medium+ intensity nose showed apples, citrus, dark honey, and a bit of oxidation.
In the mouth, this wine was medium bodied with great richness and length. The acidity was fully integrated and resolved. This clearly would have been a 95+ point, world class bottle if it didn't have the oxidation notes.
While this bottle looked good, it was not properly cared for a some point along the way. While this example was a bit past its prime, others should be in much better shape.

Dinner Alyn Williams London with Stuart, Katelynn on 5/36/12: good condition wine was soft and seductive, white flowers and honeyed citrus notes - in the 7th inning probably best to drink in the coming two years.

From magnum; succulent nose - fresh, alive and kicking. But on the palate this is quite linear, marked by botrytis and made a bit simple but still pleasurable. The finish is not great with its streak of acid.

From magnum. Very dark color with a caramel citrus nose. The botrytis on this wine was quite clear as it was showing sweetness on the nose and the palate. Intense on the palate after the wine got used to be in the glass. Beautiful certainly, but far from profound as ultimately it was a bit simple.

Magnum Madness (New York, NY): Magnum. Ripe fruit and a trace of mint on nose. Fat fruit on palate, less maturity than I would expect but seemingly a bit flabby and short on acid, which seemed to shorten an otherwise exceptional performance.

Fabulously opulent and flamboyant. Enormous richness, depth, viscosity. Liquid buttercup and hazelnuts. A distinct note of botrytis lends intriguing flair to this great wine even if it is atypical. My last bottle, from Chicago Wine Company.

A bottle I brought to Masa’s San Francisco. This is what I expect from Ramonet+Bâtard-Montrachet. Huge nose, palate and finish. Very good acidity holds it all together. Intense ripe but not over-ripe fruit. A great wine.

Medium yellow. Classic Burgundian nose. Big Bâtard-Montrachet weight. Attack is fine but finishes with a slightly bitter burnt butterscotch flavor. Short and not entirely clean. Probably an off bottle.

From magnum. Showing older than it should from this format with some oxidation and a somewhat dry finish. 92-

Very disappointing. Medium-heavy weight. Very odd fruit. No oak support. Definitively off.
