Burgundy Dinner with Friends (Sun Wah): Alongside the 2010, both opened two hours before serving. Sturdy and tasty with lots of ripe fruit, just nowhere near the complexity of the 2010.

First bottle from a full case purchased at auction in 2016. Pristine condition, perfect level and cork. Albert Bichot is the largest owner of Malconsorts, with a 1.76 hectare parcel in a single block, which abuts Les Boudots in Nuits. Decanted for three hours - in spite of the generous vintage this is a very masculine and structured wine that needs a lot of oxygen to flex its muscles, and three hours wasn't nearly enough. At 12 years of age this is still closed and unyielding, deep and dusty and dark and tannic, a brooding powerhouse of a wine. However, it is not over extracted or overly tannic, all the (impressively concentrated) component parts are perfectly balanced and there are already some intimations of the aromatic richness which may unfold with time. Tight and energetic finish. In sum: wait. Next bottle 2024/2025, and this should live easily into the second half of the 21st century. Depending on how this develops, it will score 92-94, so I am going with 93 for the moment.

My bottles have been consistently excellent. Medium ruby, opened right up. Very long and complex. In a sweet spot now and I will probably enjoy my last 2 bottles over the next two years.

Blackberry, black cherry, notes of molasses, wet velvet; rich, full, substantial, slightly thick but narrowing over a long finished; good, but not as graceful or elegant as hoped

High expectations from high scores, effusive reviews and the mystique of burgundy led to disappointment. Nothing wrong with the wine but I found it a bit on the target side, meh on aromatics and all in all nothing special

This wine knocked me out. Medium ruby, nose was exploding from the bottle before a decant. Gave it 45 minutes. Elegant mouth coating fruit. Extremely complex with a long finish. Grand Cru quality. Drinking well and will hold for years and perhaps improve.

Deep colour and plenty of ripe sweet fruit on the nose and in the mouth. There’s a core of mineral buried beneath the flesh. Excellent density, concentration and length.

Aromas of ripe, dark cherries and plum and floral notes. The tannins are still quite structured and there is a trace of bitterness on the finish. Given more time, there is potential here.

Birthday Dinner (Yusho - Chicago IL): Lush and powerful with plenty of red and black cherry aromas and flavors. Dense, firm and somewhat backward for right now, this will need some quiet time in the cellar over the next 15+ years to really show Vosne charm and Malconsorts character.

Knightsbridge 2009 Burgundy Tasting Highlights (Northbrook, IL): Wine tasting. Intense red fruit aromas, followed by red and black fruit on palate. Dense and powerful flavors, but slightly backward and structured today. This will need a decade or two to fully show its charm, but isn't that just Malconsorts?

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. 4 hour decant. Ripe red fruit on nose with good baking spice in background. Dense red and black cherry on the palate with lots of density. Acidity and tannin provide texture and nuance to the ripe fruit. I rarely try the Bichot wines, and this wonderful wine makes me want to revisit that decision.

Wow, crazy richness and concentration but just so young and lacking integration. Delicious enough but give this 10+ years. Upside from here.

Dom Pérignon / Vosne-Romanée Tasting-cum-Lunch (Restaurant Slagerij De Beurs, Amsterdam, NL): Second bottle from a full case purchased at auction in 2016. Dark fruit, masculine, tannic, big and burly, muscular, just starting to open up. The jury is still out on this one - will it develop the aromatic complexity which is still a bit lacking?

Kompleks vin, men antagelig noe uferdig. Iflg Brelin på Caves Madeleine, som kjenner AB, er det et røverkjøp til usd 93.
