A very pretty nose. Forest berry and cherry fruit, some stems notes and florals. It's mid weighted, with lovely balance, carrying the weight of the vintage with grace. A lovely mix of berry and cherry fruit, perfume, and savory- stemmy notes on the palate. It's supple and midweghted with a textural softness I love. This is a wine of harmony and interesting contrasts. Elegance with subtle power and depth. A broad palate presence coupled with a light touch and softness in the midpalate. On the back end, another curve ball as it finishes with fine but surprisingly firm tannins. Drinking youthfully well. I will hold my remaining bottles for a few years. 90 +

Pretty good actually. Generous, savoury and quite deep fruited Burgundy. Some sappy and earthy flavours, not overly complex but very satisfying and well made. Has enough of everything to cellar for a while yet. It was, however, much better on day 1, was starting to oxidise and lose its freshness on day 2.

Really great. Definitely imprecise and fat - very 2009. But so friendly and delicious right now. Beautiful cherry and Citrus. Exotic spices and smoke. Long finish. With blistered shisito peppers the wine felt spicy and explosive. A memorable food/wine combo.

2009 Savigny-les-Beaunes (Vin Vino Wine, Palo Alto, CA): Gorgeous nose, bright red fruit and floral notes. Medium+ bodied, the weightiest in the lineup. Black raspberry fruit with a great, velvety texture. Some fruit skin tannin but not as much as I remember from a year ago. Try one now and put the rest away to sleep awhile.

Affordable Red Burgundy (The Wine Country, Signal Hill, CA): $36.99. Nice nose showing some ripe but pretty fruit. Really tight and tannic at the moment but there's lots of ripe fruit underneath. Great structure - needs a couple of years at least but this is going to be a beauty.

Nose is completely closed. Wonderful on the palate though, mixed berries, earth, spice, really nice balanced mouthfeel and some grainy tannins give it a rustic feel. Good now, would hope it improves with age.

2009 Cote de Beaunes (Vin Vino Wine, Palo Alto, CA): Pretty nose of red cherries, baking spice and a bit of earth. Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Tart cherry, warm baking spice, moderate tannins. A tad rustic at this stage but really nice, with great acidity.

Some nice floral notes on the nose, good acid and tannins, but really short drying finish. Not terribly pleasant.

Great for the price. Complex and well structured Burg. Solid fruit. Hints of spice. Beautiful color. Wish I had bought more.
