This is the best Châteauneuf du Pape I have had all year which means little since we haven’t made it through January yet. We have tasted a lot of wines from southern France this evening which has allowed me to confirm my theory that this region drinks like Macallan - the older the better! There’s candied raspberry, sweet cherry, tobacco, leather, clove, and a little toast. My patience was rewarded - this wine is fabulous! Cheers

I really like this wine. It has a proud significant style that displays all the goodies of southern Rhone without becoming jammy and sweet. Can be kept i cellar for another 2-3 years.

Really pretty CDP. Could use some more time, right now its a light whiff of funk and well-balanced fruit with tannin. Good stuff, an older school style.

A very well balanced CdP. still lots of strong tannins. The fruit is nicely followed up by mineral notes that gives a more elegant impression than often in the southern Rhone. Absolutely mature for drinking right now, but needs air for about an hour. It. might profit from a couple of more years in the cellar.

Very lively, lifted nose of spiced red berries, lilac, sous bois, and spice. Medium bodied on the palate with wonderful acidity and energy, boasting primary brambly berries and loam as well as finishing peppered game, savory spice, and dried flowers. This was surprisingly lithe and balanced in a ripe vintage, and therefore one to seek out in 2009. Should improve in the cellar as well. Drink or hold.

Ordered a half bottle off the wine list at the Gramercy Tavern in NYC. Light clear garnet. Nose of black cherry, fig, hoisin, and licorice. Medium palate of black cherry, blackberry, fig, hoisin, smoked meat, licorice, and pepper. Good length. Fairly high acidity. Youthful tannins. This wine will likely be better with a couple of years in the cellar. For the moment, it shows more structure than fruit. Full disclosure: my wife liked it more than I did.

not decanted. displays robust fruit and moderate tannin. very nice. no doubt some modest cellar time will be beneficial, yet drinking well now. why wait?

(Mostly) Gigondas (Vin Vino Wine, Palo Alto, CA): Reduced nose of tire rubber that blew off a bit with air to reveal a bit of raspberry fruit. Medium bodied with low to medium acidity. Better on the palate with nice depth of red cherry fruit and a bit of black pepper. Not particularly complex at this point but nice.

Still powerful and vibrant! Last bottle should be left at least another 3 years

Improved since last tried 3 years ago. Light, long decant helps

Very smooth. Could have a hint more depth that might develop with more time.

I found this to be quite thin, lacking the stuffing I normally expect from a CDP.

Rose petal aroma. Bright fresh cherry flavors with noticeable acidity. A touch of mushroom and some soft tannin as well.
