I put this away strictly as an "experiment." Opened with a group lof 6 serious drinkers and no one could believe this was a 21 year old California Chardonnay. Beautiful light gold color with no signs of oxidation at all. The oak was perfectly integrated and barely noticeable.....certainly not intrusive. Still lively and simply delicious. We all had the first glass blind and then the remainder with a very tasty pasta dish. The dish featured shrimp and a light cream sauce and the wine held up quite well. A real revelation!

Should have decanted, as much more expressive in hour three than in hour one. A bit of effervescence that blew off after 30 minutes. Still great acidity to balance the honey and candied pineapple. Plenty of life left.

Opened with great anticipation, given other tasting notes and ratings, but it just wasn't there with this bottle. A bit of effervescence was evident, and even at room temperature the wine was virtually flavorless. Might just be one bottle, but likely OTH.

Brought in a brown paper bag to a friends surprise 55th party and shared with many friends from magnum. This wine shows no sign of aging and was a pure delight. the light color honey like was a treat and many of the guests were raving about it against the house wine so I was careful to share this bottle over the course of a couple of hours. Since it was sub zero outside, I left my bottle outside for 45 minutes and from the brown paper bag this stayed cold for 2 hours. The wine only matured more in the bottle and was sumpteous after 2 hours. One magnum left and I will wait.

Drank from a magnum. Used the Vinturi and decanted into a decanter about a half an hour before dinner. Opened nicely as we enjoyed appetizers on the patio. Nice balance and not too oaky. Fruity and sweet on the palate. Dinner came and between the four of us the wine just got better and better as all of the flavors merged well in the glass and on the palate. Still have two more mag's and will probably wait another year but not much more.

Aubert Tasting and Dinner (My home - Chicago IL): Aromas of apple and pear, which continue on to palate, then some lemon on finish. Long, lean with good acids and minerality. Still fresh and vibrant. Easy to understand the vineyard's name based on this flight of 2001-2005 Quarry.

Aubert Tasting (Alan's): Medium yellow color with green hints. Clean bright yellow fruit on the nose. Mmmn, big rich round yellow fruit on the palate with some sweetness.

Intensely sweet, but in a good way. Very concentrated without any overbearing oak treatment. a truly wonderful wine that would do best on its own, or if carefully paired with perhaps lobster or Nantucket Sea Scallops.

Medium yellow. Huge rich mineral aroma. Big rich yellow fruit with lemon custard on the plate. Nice long round finish. My and group's WOTF, a few votes for WOTN. 10/05

a tremendous new player in the chard game. way better than the 00 ritchie creek. this is the most flavorful chard i had all week as far as forward fruit. recommended.

i didn't check the fuel level on this wine until just now. no wonder i'm ripped. but holy batshit, this is a fabulous chardonnay. i wasn't too thrilled with the 00 ritchie creek, so i opened this before i ordered anything more. the second the cork popped, i knew.
pears, apples, mango, passion fruit. one jumbled mess of flavors that are mega-satisfying. a bit of oak. no mixing this up with anything but california. however, the balance is superb despite the high octane level.
now the indifferent news. is it distinctive? my answer is no. i know the pedigree, and that's what is distinctive. this could be a peter michael cuvee indigene, or a non-estate marcassin. heady company, so what's to complain about? nothing. just making a point.
i forget what i paid for this, and i'm too lazy to look it up. $50 i think.

Burgundy Al's Aubert Dinner - Near Complete Vertical / Horizontal (Chicago, IL): Shy clean nose has soft, white fruit. Palate brings lime, citrus and high acidity. Heady, medium length finish.

Beautiful wine. Not too oaky, not tropical fruit, complex, elegant and very nice nose and palate.

Very strange -- fizzy and sweet, with muted fruit. An off bottle, or perhaps my palate was on the fritz.
