Wow, this wine is really singing. Everyone loved this last night right out of the bottle. Drinking well now it's got a long life ahead of it. Just wish I had more in my cellar. Drink now or over the coming 5+ years.

Deep purple garnet in color. Red/purple/black fruit with plum, black berry flavors, spicy earth underneath the fruit. Well balanced and very enjoyable.

Heavy California style. Others who like fruit, ripe, highly extracted, high alcohol style will enjoy. To me it is just cumbersome. Fine for the price but lacks delineation and balance.

Notes from night two. Full lifted nose of ripe black fruit, creosote and smoke. Palate is silky in texture with pure and bright black fruit. Long, lifted and clean across the palate. Picks up some spice notes on the back half. Not the most complex or layered Syrah, but I'm really enjoying the polished and silky nature of this wine -- fully fruited while showing precise and lifted. Bravo.

Deep purple color. Nose has deep, rich black/purple fruits with a hint of pepper and spice, even on the nose. Flavor profile includes plum, blackberry, date flavors; pepper is less pronounced on the palate as opposed to the nose. Finish is long with tart close. Some residual tannins... a bit grainy, but not unpleasant.

I usually age my syrah more than this but I have to say that this one as drinking very well last night. Drank with tenderloin. The color was inky purple. Great balance with tons of fruit and some earthy notes. Delicious.

I'm sure it will get better and better, but pretty great right now with a wonderful mix of dark beery flavors, some sweet fruit and a long finish. Excellent

One of the better syrah I have had. Dark purple color. Big nose of dark fruits and slight menthol and alcohol aromas. Tastes primarily of rich dark fruits, blackberry being most prominent. Some gaminess as well as a touch of black olive. Smooth, rich tannins which are very deep. Wine truly coats the mouth. Black pepper shows on the finish.
With air tannins were more pronounced as well as some inkiness on finish.

Mike Officer's note nails it: "Opaque crimson-purple. Glass staining. An explosive nose of blackberry, creosote, narcissus, coffee-bean and vanilla. Sexiness just oozes out of the glass! On the palate, concentrated, thick, but with a wonderful sense of balance."
You can smell this wine from a couple feet away. For my tastes, this is drinking well already.

Outstanding aromas of dark fruit and smoke (the good kind). Rich blackberry/cherry fruit and a distinctive clove or spice note. Fairly prominent dusty tannins. Improved over the course of several hours. Thoroughly enjoyable but I may wait a couple of years on the next one.

Very good wine. Decanted 12 hours. Big, rich, extracted with tons of inky fruit, cocoa powder and a creamy finish (a good dose of new oak). Very good and "fun" to drink, yes. But I am not sure this is what I seek in a syrah. More about extraction than any place (or varietal character); muscle opposed to elegance. Sure it is a crowd pleasing wine, but I may stick to the Zins moving forward.

had this over two nights. Night one was ok, basic nice syrah. Day 2 everything just got ratcheted up a few notches. Wonderful nose and wonderful flavors. I really wish I had more in the bottle for tonight. Oh well. Enjoy!!!

Rich, full-bodied blackberry fruit with loads of chocolate, plum, mineral, and black olive flavors, very good structure, nice acidity, well balanced, expansive, surprising good wine

On day 2, this wine is still fantastic. Much more fruit forward with some meat notes. Good acidity still with a touch of heat at the end. Same score. 93.

Nose similar to other Carlisle Syrah's, dark fruit, mineral powder, some cassis on the end. Palate has good extraction, initial attack of dark sweet fruit followed by acidity and toasted oak to a 25 second finish. This was a pop and pour so it should only get better but it's much better than I expected based on some other notes. The mid-palate actually has some SQN qualities to it, but it turns completely away from that with the heavy toasted oak treatment on the end.

Pop and pour and tasted over two hours. The wines was tasted side by side to a 2007 Bedrock Cabernet. Dark color; nice nose of spice and black fruit. Shows sweet blueberry and earth with some dark chocolate and smooth tannins.

P&P. On the nose, the blackberrys make their presence known, with hints of coffee beans, stems, and vanilla. The palate is all about structure, while being balanced. Not surprisingly, It's showing as being very young. It tries to hide the 15.5%, but it does peak out. The only negative is a slightly bitter finish, but I bet this will integrate if given more time.

Intensely floral and lavender notes on the nose mixed in with blackberry. Medium weight on the tongue (was kinda hoping for a heavier texture) with really polished feel and a nice finish of smoky, plum, blackberry and licorice. It's not the most profound Carlisle Syrah but it's more on the elegant side of Carlisle IMHO.
Tasted again on 1/7/2012 and it was like a different wine. Had all the same characteristics as noted above, however this time there was a massive game element to the nose and finish. Wonderful surprise! Hoping next bottles are consistent with this.
Tasted again on 7/24/2012 and yet again this wine tastes different. Now, it's incredibly dense and juicy blackberry with subtle smoke and game sitting more in the background. This is the first time I've had a wine change this much over the course of about 8 months. Really really interesting.

Very savory Syrah characteristics with dark fruit. Tannins are there but smooth and the acidity is unobtrusive.

Some really nice berry and earthy flavors, but right now the tannic grip would not let go for us, even with a long decant. Cellar for a while.
