Jason's birthday: Brought for a friend. Burgundian nose but palate was a little tannic and alcoholic than I would have liked, most guessed northern Rhone possibly because of the hint of herbaceousness. Became more elegant with air but still too much cherry kirsch and garrigue for me. Badly in need of more time.

Popped & poured, lots going on the nose, chargrilled meat, bacon, toffee, constantly evolving, after 2 hours vanilla & roasted coffee beans, on the palate medium bodied, rich, sweet, exquisite balance & mouthfeel, been a while since my last Celestins, stellar ‘big boy’ juice

Decanted for 3+ hours with wide decanter. Further decant for 30-45 min at the restaurant. This bottle is more vibrant and offers more fruit (compared to 04) with smoothness in palate. Further open up after another 30 min in the glass. Full body and medium finishing

Savoured during Covid lockdown, needed my favourite Cdp to ease away the blues, decanted for 1.5 hours & drank over 3 hours, at start sweet nose, ripe cherries, then black fruits, meaty, savoury, herbs, Earth, complex & ever changing nose, in the mouth medium bodied, silky tannins, long finish, lovely balance, drinking well now, wow wine!

Complex and balanced. Clear but a deep and dark purple in the glass. A pronounced nose that is still primary. Flavours of liquorice, spice, coffee and nuts. A high quality wine that needs time, but will last for decades. Served by SH.
Drink now (with air) to 2040+

3 hours slow ox, coffee, grilled meat, every sniff brought added layers, bacon, licorice, the balance is impeccable, sexy, nothing out of place, in a sweet spot now but I suspect it will close down soon 94

Continue to just really love these wines. While they are on the bigger side of CdP, there's a precision to them that I can really appreciate. Lots of black fruits and more herbal notes. Well structured. I don't think '08 was a great year and yet this was a great wine. Much too young. Could easily go another 10+ years.

Spontaneous - and served blind for NT, who had no clue, though this was from his own restaurant; it is very grenache, very concentrated, very, very far from ready, and this might work out in 10 years, for now the port-like elements are too strong, all though supported by locale features, garrigue et all (at BarVin, CPH)

Color: dark red Nose: tight but after 3 hours barnyard, spicy Palate: closed phase? We had 2 08s late last year and they were singing so if you have bottles of this don't pop til 2018? This opened up after 3 hours to reveal a masculine full bodied Celestins very different from last year when it was very elegant almost chambolle like Rating : 92+

Color: medium to dark red Nose: stunning, sexy, I could smell this the whole night, gamey after an hour moving away from the fresh strawberry initial nose, this is so so good! Palate: elegance with power, Craig Daniel rather than pierce brosnan, body and with character, I am going out to buy more of this beauty, WOTN!

Color: medium red Nose: pure cherries & strawberries very unlike celestins, lovely, floral, shy, picks up complexity after an hour, love the nose, gravitating from Burgundian to classic cdp back to burgundy, that's celestins for you! We salute the master Henri Bonneau!! Palate: sweet, still young n tannic but great balance, a very feminine celestins but still outstanding, delicious, very fine

leather, musk, truffles, kirsch, Provencal herbs; on the palate the fruit is very pure, and is showing already more than it did 4 months ago; very impressive for '08

This wine is still young and tightly-wound, opening up with coaxing to reveal complex aromas of black plums, cassis, spices, smoked meats, dried blood, herbs (bay) and autumn leaves. Deep, concentrated and savory, this wine is a monument to traditional, artisanal winemaking at the highest level.

Again quite rich but not very structure or aromatic. Settled on aged New World Pinot.

Double-blind. Never had this wine before. I actually preferred this to the two Raya served earlier. Burgundian and weightless, very good wine.

Bottle decanted for 2+ hours.
Not expressive and did not show strong potential.

PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Fruit” day): Bright medium ruby with very slightly bricking rim.
Intial impression: Savoury, fine white spices. High definition, prestine ruby berry fruits here.
Very refined palate of a lot more fruit than the nose, very finely textured, ripe tannins. Just great on the finish with superb detailed fruits.
What a elegant CDP... 94 points solid.
2nd round: herbal, garrigue and cinnamon, much more white spices on the palate. Nice!
