This is so anti-Sauvignon Blanc moderne. The oak treatment changes it into something full, spicy and maybe herbal(?). That said, it does what it does really well and enjoyed it with panko chicken.

Flight 2, USA, Wine 3 (blind): The wine was pale yellow/green in colour and offered citrus notes, gooseberry, some apple and oak aromas on the nose. On the palate the medium-bodied wine showed lemon, apple, asparagus, some vegetal notes, a hint of ice bonbon and moderate oak influence, paired with a creamy texture, medium-plus acidity and average length. The wine was slightly bitter, with moderate complexity and concentration. Drink now or over the next few years.

Aromas of butter, citrus, green apple, stone fruit, minerality, C.G.G and a hint of vanilla. The aromas come through in the flavor but I really got the taste of the oak.

Opens up with butterscotch, lemon, green apples, gooseberry. Creamy yet cleansing acidity on the palate. Green apples and wood persist a bit longer than the mouth feel in a medium lenght finish.

WSET III, part 2; 12/3/2011-12/4/2011 (Portland, ME): Medium-minus to pale lemon-green color. Clear; medium(+) intensity smoky, vegetal nose. Youthful. Medium-plus acidity, body, alcohol. On the palate, mineral and smoke. Drink now.

This is a very well made wine. Green apple and white peach with a hint of grassiness. Clean aromas and palate, with medium plus acidity. Served it blind at a France vs. CA tasting and many people thought it was French. It is in fact very reminiscent of a Pouilly-Fume' or Sancerre. The 10% Semillion, however, gives it a rounder mouthfeel and a touch of melon which is very pleasing and food-friendly. A great food wine and a good value at this price. It has much more complexity and is more versatile than the typical NZ SB in the same price range.

Pleasantly fresh and giving no hint of its age. SB influences barely noticeable in a commercially attractive and well crafted offering

A nice SB. Citrus on the palate with well-defined acidity. An excellent food wine.

Served with hors d'oeuvres at this year's cassoulet. Nice sauvignon blanc, more like a French than a new world SB, good QPR.

Classic Mondavie Fume. Not as good as the reserve of course, but quite enjoyable with sushi.

Was tart and assertively acidic at fridge temp, was much better warmed up to near room temp and with food. It is not a chip off the To Kalon block.

Nice crisp apple lemon and acidity balanced by the earthy wood. Would definitely drink again.
