Maybe nearing the end of life. Perfect cork after a decade in the bottle. Consumed over two days. This wine showed more fruit on the first day, on day two this wine displayed more dried fruit flavors. Deep ruby color with little to no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of pomegranate and cranberry. Flavors of black cherry, raspberry, and forest floor. This Pinot Noir has a medium finish. A flavorful balanced Pinot Noir. Drink up, it may not get any better.

Wine is still ripe with fruit flavor a of cherry and dark berry. Starting to pickup secondary flavors of earth and mushroom. Acid still intact. Wonderful food beverage or stand alone pinot

Beautiful Pinot color, clear and deep red. Nose of ripe cherries, hint of earth, plums. Opened nicely in the glass following through with cherries, red fruits, mushrooms and just a touch of herbs. Aged nicely and wish I had more!

14.3% abv. Darkly colored; opaque. I slightly preferred the 2008 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir over this Russian River Valley bottling but wasn't enamored with either wine. Once again the alcohol percentage was over 14% and the wine showed extraction. As with the bottling from Sonoma Coast, I liked this better on the second or third day after it was opened. I get raspberry as perhaps the preeminent fruit flavor.

Ripe black cherry and baking spices lead the way on both the nose and palate, with flavors fanning out further to include a touch of licorice and earth. It's all framed by good acidity, and is squarely in its prime drinking window.

Decided to open one of the 2 last bottles I have. We had it with grilled salmon the first night. Delicious. Plenty of fruit, great acid lift. Real Russian River. VacuVin overnight in fridge and drank the rest with steak the next day. Remarkably good. This wine is holding up very well. Will probably hold the last bottle for a couple of more years.

This was great with a steak and oyster sauce stir-fry. I preface by saying that Pinot Noir is not my strong point and I often have found disappointment in what friends love as a great expression of PN.
This had a core of fruit that held senses and tastes of raspberry and strawberry jam and this core was surrounded by a swirl of tastes that hinted of stone, earth, wet leaves and delicate white roses. It drank like a dream, and we were quite surprised how quickly the two of us demolished the bottle. I will seek out more Merry Edwards.
If anyone reading this review has a favorite Pinot from Calif, Oregon, France, NZ or where ever that she or he thinks is comparable or better, I would love to get your recommendations as I am now wondering if I am missing the Pinot experience by not finding the right producers.

Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of birch, berries and cherries. Flavors of berries, cranberries and raspberries. Medium acidity, medium tannin, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold.

Brooding, earthy nose with a hint of phenols. Like so many California PNs, the first taste is cherry, but, then, a good thin. As the wine moves over the palate, I get more of a blackberry flavor and acid and tannin structure add significant complexity. Acid/tannin suggests to me that there is some significant aging potential, here.

Lovely. This is a very rich style of Pinot; it almost tastes like a Turley Zinfandel. On the nose there was a wonderful floral aroma and it coats the glass. Very smooth with hints of dark cherries, dried apricot and almost something like hazelnut on the follow through. I found this totally satisfying.

Dense and firm wine, full bodied, but also elegant. Alcoholic for a pinot (14,3%) but it's very well integrated. Juicy and sweet fruits that remembers berries jam. Great bottle.

Earthy but slightly floral, perhaps African violet and some deep red jammy smells, maybe pomegranates and plums. Jammy almost chewy. Still young with tannins, but not overwhelmingly so. Lingering finish reinforces the jammy-ness of the wine. Very good, but not my favorite of Merry's wines.

Excellent Russian River Pinot, amazing intensity and power with all the great typicity of the varietal on steroids - Dark, full bodied with a nose of cherry, plum, cinammon, spice, cola and vanilla, intense, complex and well structured, a touch hot, sour, sweet on the palate with amazing length, delicious! (93 Points).

This wine has a deep (almost opaque) purple robe, more reminiscent of Cabernet or Syrah than of Pinot Noir. The nose show ripe black cherry and cola aromas, with hints of Asian spices. Full-bodied on the palate, with medium acidity, medium sweet tannins and fairly well-integrated alcohol (considering the listed ABV as 14.3%). The flavors are black cherry-dominated and they carry on unheeded through a solid midpalate. The finish is medium-to-long and fairly smooth. Still a bit tightly wound, I suspect that even this lower-level Merry Edwards offering would benefit from some additional time in bottle (as is typically the case with its higher-end brethren). Drink 1/14-12/18.

Bright purple color. Aromas of rich black cherries, cola and mocha. Bold, jammy black and red fruit, along with cola and licorice. Some nice baking spice and rich loam accent the fruit flavors, and its dusted with some balanced toasted oak. Hint of smoke on the finish. I poured this wine for Val and my mom. Val guessed California pinot and my mother guessed merlot. They're not experts, but that tells you something about the wine, I think. The smooth tannins, dark fruit and mocha actually remind me of merlot. Regardless, it's a really delicious wine that would do well with a few more years of age.

Honeymoon Wine Tasting; 6/25/2012-7/3/2012 (California - Napa & Sonoma Counties): Tasted at Winery. Light ruby red in color, with aromas of ripe red fruit such as raspberry and cherry. Light in body and tannins, this wine was slightly over-acidic. The finish was short to medium with minimal complexity. Unimpressive at the price point at this point - may improve.

Despite some apparently bad juju between me and Merry Edwards, I'll try and be objective. Deep ruby with a purplish rim, very thikc in the glass. Nose has aged oak and fruit, slightly hot with slight brett. Taste has fairly low acidity and dark fruit, with a medium-long finish. My only issue is this wine is almost a little to "big" and even somewhat flabby.

Sonoma Wine Tasting & San Francisco - March 2012; 3/22/2012-3/27/2012: Vibrant purple color in the glass. Rich cherry on the nose and pure strawberry pie as well. The palate is smooth and jammy, but it maintains an elegance. Nice cinnamon flavor accents the rich cherry fruit, and the finish shows a taste of integrated oak. Silky, pure and elegant.
