200 Burgundy Grand Crus from vintage 2000, 4-day blind tasting (Singapore): Wow, ripe and bready, rich, sour cherry, some sour finish intermixed with the ripeness. Very good, very elegant. This Charmes showed much better than the other Rousseaus which make me wonder if these bottles were really representative.

Christmas Wimps 2021 - Home Alone 2 table (La Trompette): Soft, sensual, sweet and lovely. Gentle cassis and meat on the nose, some succulent red-fruited zing on the palate, then a very long and exotically-spiced finish. Really great, but potentially on the turn, as it lost energy after an hour or so.

I would have put my left nut on the fact that this was new world. Given that the chef specialises in offal it is probably lucky I didn’t. Sweet, simple, light and spicy. It has an overt strawberry personality. Smooth texture with some stewed rhubarb to the finish. Pleasant but not challenging.

Aromatically, this features lots of autumnal leaf and bark notes, with nutmeg spice, sassafras, strawberry and tomato leaf all part of the package, too. It turns more and more earthy with air, folding in some good burgundy funk character that make it real interesting in the end. On the red-fruited palate, it has fine drive and intensity to go with a cashmere texture and a freshening squirt of citrus. Although just medium-bodied, the tannins are perhaps the most present of all the wines thus far. However, they are completely lush and rounded as they coat the teeth on the very long finish. This would seem to have a long life ahead of it.

Mid-red, finely perfumed, light bodied, but good weight and persistence on the palate, altogether more substantial than the last bottle - cherries, a hint of game - very lovely

Confraria A.C. Final médio a longo. Excelente/Excepcional.

Rousseau Dinner at St Johns clear and light purple, this wine had a vibrant red fruit nose, in the mouth it seemed quite youthful and somewhat light. was a very pleasant drink but not anywhere near as complex as its 2 grand cru brothers

Burg Dinner, Mostly Meursault Charmes and Gevrey-Chambertin Grand Cru (Sepia - Chicago IL): Open a couple of hours, not decanted. Mostly red fruit aromas with an assertive earthy element. More ripe fruit on palate with modest spice. Good balance. At its peak today.

This was really good. Elegant, quite a complex mineral element and beautiful tannin profile make this very enjoyable.

Fresher and sharper than the '97, more liquorice, less fat, felt less alcoholic, very attractive
