  • Drinking excellent. Light golden, slightly green. Lemon pie, honey and ginger, tangerine and orange, slight mint/wintergreen. Beautiful balance of fruit with plenty of acid. Long pure and light finish…. Wonderful!

  • Super dark amber. Not many bortrytis notes and super low acidity. Aromas of caramell and nutty fruits. Untypical and not sure it will improve much.

  • AP 17 11 From 375, with a gold capsule. Moderate yellow-gold. Piquant nose - obviously high acid, almost radishy/eiswein spicy. Medium + botrytis in a heavy layer. Roses Lime syrup. Flamed (like you’re flaming an orange peel over a drink) blood oranges and peaches. Syrupy texture, but maybe a little volatile in the midpalate. Red skinned peaches on the finish. Maturing, but where’s this headed?

  • Beautiful, show stopping wine. Balance of sugar and acid is epic.

  • What a beauty. Dark gold, with a heady riesling nose. Beautifully balanced between the sweetness of the fruit and the underlying acidity. Long finish.

A nice deal at $25. I'm kicking myself that I didn't buy more. Oh, well.

  • Lovely riesling bouquet. Deliciously sweet with perfect underlying acidity.
Great length and balance. Lingering aftertaste. Already complex with years ahead.

  • Un moment d'exception. Longueur sans fin. Équilibre parfait sweet mineralité acidité. Couleur de l'or. Merci Donnhoff.

  • Became unctuously complex after just 10 minutes of air. Meyer lemon, white peach , various tropical fruit. a bit of caramel with some marzipan-ground hazelnut mixture in the background. Our New Year's eve tradition is Dungeness crab, sourdough bread and Riesling. This one was superb.

  • Sweet Meyer lemon. Some underlying acidity to keep it from being clumsy. This bottle was much different from the first. Nice.

  • light golden colour, restrained nose but very delicate and precise, mainly lemon curd and honey with some pear and slight petrol. Fresh nose, could be of a dry Riesling.
cool and fleshy entry, supple, slightly fizzy. Ample in the middle palate, dense with purity, freshness of texture, slightly fizzy acidity of German Riesling. Wide finish, warm and fresh, rounded acidity. The wine is really rounded, not sharp at all, comfortable. Medium lenghth. Could develop with age.
Quite sweet but leaves a clean mouth and drinks easily.
Very precise and charming, huge potential and needs time to unveil its full aromatics and length.
First time with this estate, stunning purity and texture, want to try the dry ones now...

  • Medium yellow. Nose of citrus pear, honey. On the palate quite ethereal but with good acidity. Delicious but not very long. I guess this needs some years to develop the secondary (=petrol) notes and with it more complexity. Solid raw material for this to happen is in place.

  • Great stuff. This wine makes me understand some of the pro-reviews and references to exotic fruits such as guava. Well peach is obvious. Good acidity to counter the sweetness, wonderful lenght.

  • Pale color, full of tiny still bubbles. Delicious yet restrained nose that only hints of the prädikät level. Really pure ripe fruit here, absolutely no signs of botrytis. Quite floral with green apple, citrus and honey notes. On the palate completely weightless and incredibly energetic. I throw the word 'focus' around a lot when discussing German Riesling but this wine really gives the term a new meaning. Sure there is a lot of ripe sweet'n'sour fruit but this wine is as surgically precise as possible. The acidity is through the roof and thus the finish is quite dry and deliciously sour. A German would not necessarily call this a dessert wine but to me this might just be the most refreshing dessert wine I have come across. A truly great wine that really makes me understand why Dönnhoff is held in such high regard. I feel like I might live just a little longer after drinking this nectar.

  • Damn!!! I accidently drank my last bottle of this. I thought i had taken the 10 Brücke Auslese, but... that was not the case. Anyway i can only be sorrow that i will not be able to follow this over the years, because on the night this wine really had all you could possibly ask for. It was so interesting aromatically... with honey, white flowers, green apples and quince.
The palate was so viscous, with white and yellow fruit, yet it was on the same time extremely elegant, with so fine acidity and freshness... Ah, what a treat.

  • There is peach and saline on the nose. In the mouth, the peach really comes out with a slightly tart tangerine chaser. I actually get a hint of Vodka from this wine? The finish is not heavy which is nice but it lacks follow through.

  • Drukket til fast ost som den klarede fint, God balance mellem syre og sødme.

  • Great definition and structure. Classic dönnhoff, but a bit more apple-notes then the 06 and 07.

  • Dan turns 30, We drink 82s (Keens Steakhouse): Second time I've this in a month and it's not nearly as good as the previous bottle. It's quite sweet, with apple and peach flavors. The palate is rich and concentrated and juicy, but it lacks the intensity and definition I remember; I taste and feel the density of the sugar more than I taste fruit flavors.

  • Dinner at PDH (PDH): Insanely delicious, even if it's still a bit tight. There's citrus and melon and tropical fruit all together. The palate is rich and dense with fruit but the acidity of the vintage is so powerful that the lingering flavor is tart rather than sweet. Perhaps not quite as expansive or complex as it could be, but wonderful nonetheless.

  • Riper and more dense than I normally expect Hermannshöhle Auslese to be; the flavours are very tropical and honeyed with tremendous complexity and depth, and it's a lovely drink with good acidity keeping it lively and fresh, but it doesn't show the clarity and the usual delicate touch I normally expect from this bottling in most years.

  • -- popped and poured; 375mL --
    -- tasted a couple pours non-blind over approx. 1 hour --
    -- AP #: … 17 11 --

NOSE: expressive, but somewhat simple right now; intense apple; wet steel.

BODY: light green-yellow color; full bodied.

TASTE: sweet; concentrated green apple flavor, with some steely mineral in the background; lots of dry extract; great acidity; despite its up-front youthfulness, this wine strikes me as being quite elegant and destined for future greatness. 7.5% alc. not noticeable. Pleasurable now, but really should be held for quite some time. I expect I’d score this wine higher twenty years down the line. Drink 2022 – 2050.

  • Wow, what a wonderful wine! Filled with notes of melon, honey and citrus and floral elements. On the palate the wine is so much in equilibrium... Just the perfect amount of acidity, sweetness, fruit and minerality. Yum yum. I could drink this every day.

  • Drank with Casey nd Angela. Medium golden. Notes of honey, ginger, lemon tarts, apricots, and tropical fruit life savers. Super nice mouthfeel - coating and rich without being cloying. Tastes of lemon zest, honey, and an almost green apple baked pie thing. The only thing that holds this back from stunning is that the finish was only of medium length. Need to buy more.

  • Quite ripe this year, with mango, some more banana-estery nose, there is still good red stoniness and minerality, but it is a bit fat more me this year. It has good clarity, and drinks with a watery ease, but I would like to see more verve and little less flesh. I am picking nits, as this is clearly an outstanding wine, but I was expecting more after the Brucke, that for me usually plays second fiddle to the Hermannshohle. Still outstanding. 93
