There is a half hour of brightness where the wine shows clean and vivid aromas and flavors - pear and minerals and the toffee notes of old Chardonnay, but energetically. Then thenwine fades and becomes more flat and the oxidized elements come across more strongly. It was a fun and very lovely 30 minutes.

Weird showing, quite advanced compared to last bottle, then it seemed to freshen up a bit in glass. Nutty, marzipan notes over sweet fruit, then more oxidized notes reappeared. Not good bottle

There was a touch of oxidation but otherwise this wine was still going strong. No noticeable oak, but the texture suggests it has at least seen neutral oak. On the nose, I'd say flowers and white apples. It's starting to develop secondary characteristics but I wouldn't say it has hit middle age. Nice acidity. I wish I had more.

Nice flora on the nose, young light golden color. Some acidity up front with nice summer flowers and pit fruits on the palate. Short finish. One of teh best of a series of SH'd I have consumed over the past few weeks but still nothing to get excited about.

Chicago Wine Flock..."Wines that Jim Wanted to Compare" ("Chateau La Grange" - La Grange IL): Tasted double blind. I thought this Chardonnay but most likely Burgundy from the early 80s. Lean and elegant with good energy, but with little freshness and probably far less interesting than it would have been a decade ago.
