Domain Marcel Deiss, a 25 year retrospective, with Mathieu Deiss (E&R, Portland, OR): Some funky grassiness on the nose, coupled with bitter minerals. Very rocky notes, coupled with lemon and quartz. Soft texture, nearly creamy, with a good rockiness. Some minerals, and mostly durty, with mild tartness and what feels like tannins. Creamy sensation attacks on the initial finish, which is delicious, then 10 seconds later you get a huge attack of acid. Now, puckering 1 minute later my mouth feels tannic. Funny timing, as about this point Mathieu commented how the skins included in the fermentation do indeed impart some tannins to the wines. Interesting.
