This juice was ok, but not at the level of the best Caillerets, it was a tad tired and did not show the precision and the cut that I was expecting from this terroir and this producer.

This thing was smokin'...and quite smoky. It is so aromatically expressive, with notes of flint, struck match, pure white peach, apricot and fennel. It is rich, direct and powerful in the mouth. There's a hint of lime brulee and some almond butter. It is detailed with great cut and a long, chalky finish.

Pronounced match stick on the nose, toast. Ripe and super expressive on the palate, grainy texture, notes of citrus and toast. Broad and penetrating, this is a big-scaled, manly Chassagne bordering on being too much. Have a small ? on the sulphur regime.

Slightly reductive with white flowers, vanilla, floral spice and minerals. The fruit was muted while the acidity was present. I should have given it a few hours of air before consuming.

The 2010 Pierre Yves Colin Morey Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets is the only PYCM that I have tasted that is maturing faster than expected, this bottle showed signs of premox. Ripe orchard fruits, buttery lees with toasted spices and mild dried apricots. Big-boned with adequate acidity. I would beware of premox in 2010. (88-90/100)

PYCM & CM Chassagne Caillerets (Cabotte, London): Again, a sense of ripeness and richness on the nose. Leads to a more minerally and classical palate. Line and length, but just lacking the easy self-assured swagger of the 11. ****

Cameron Wine Dinner with John Paul (Estadio - DC): Lots going on aromatically, balanced between the bright and the richer elements. Pure on the palate with rich texture and firing acidity. Rich fruit, complex minerals. Very nice to compare this with some of the other killer Chardonnays in this tasting.

just popped to have tonight at our bridge match, this is bright and lovely with loads of citrus fruit... I bet even better later... got to say, PYCM is a genius right now... and Caillerets isn't even one of my go to vineyards

Jaggerfest 2017 (Harwood Arms, London): Pale. A slightly subdued but classic PYCM nose. Very nicely mineral and chiselled. Fine. Long and minerally. Just starting to open up and round at the edges with a touch of oatmeal. Really quite swish. ****

Beautiful nose, flint, lemon and floral spice. Very crisp, mineral laden palate, balanced acidity and a long finish. This wine is just singing, rich flavors but delivered in a taut sinewy package. Wonderful!

I's 50th (The Medlar, London): Palest straw. Classic struck match PYCM nose initially. Blows off in rhe decanter to reveal a touch of warm butter but mainly a very mineral and focused wine on the nose with a similar profile on the palate, joined by a touch of oatmeal and plent of mineral crunch. Lovely texture. Long. ****

Poured out of magnum. Muted deep yellow. A tad of sulfur but more citrus and white flowers. Perfectly poised between delicacy and just beguiling texture and concentration. Fresh lemon drop, interesting bit of black licorice, a light touch of wood, and perfectly weighted acidity. This is just drinking like a charm. What lovely balance for now and the next 4 or 5 years, I'd imagine.

Plenty of struck match greets the nose. Underneath the sulphurous haze there are some mildly exotic fruits (think custard apple and rockmelon). It is outgoing and expressive as it hits the palate, staining the mouth with sappy flavour. It tightens up towards the finish and is minerally and detailed with terrific length of flavour.

A hint of sulfur and vanilla initially. The wonderful lemon and minerality take center stage but there is a slight honey sweetness that brings balance also. Nice texture. I'm a fan.

Tasting. Very impressive start shows lots of lemon, lemon peel and some apple hints. Apple and lemon again on palate, very well supported by acidity and minerality, with lots of energy exploding on finish. Grand Cru quality today, this was showing 92-93 point potential for me today.

Popped and poured. Flinty, lemony with high toned orchard fruit elements. Crisp, acidic palate, lots of lemon and a brisk, clenched palate. Very nice.
