nose: very fruit-forward w primarily tropical overtones, some minerality. a little hot.
palate: again with the fruits: pineapple, tangerine, lemon sorbet. no wood, but a little spiciness on the mid palate. pretty heavy in the mouth (tho not flabby) & a little hi in alc.

pale gold; med developing, apple, butterscotch, honey blossom, banana, brioche, had a heaviness and density to the nose; dry, med+ acid, med+ body/alcohol, med intensity/finish, apples, touch of cream; good, drink now, lacked something on the mid palate, especially after the richness of the nose

- Light gold color - Excellent Chardonnay. Worth every penny with light floral bouquet, very little malolactic fermentation and full finish with lasting flavor.

Popped and poured. Color light straw. Nose with apples and toasted marshmallow. Palate fairly simple chardonnay with light acid on the finish. Really not interesting to me, although way preferable to an "oaked" equivalent.

The best thing about this wine is the cool looking ceramic bottle. I like this wine but I think any CA Chardonnay fan would hate it for the lack of buttered popcorn. It is a zesty citrus forward summer wine with plenty of minerals and NO OAK. What disappoints is it has virtually no finish.
More fun to look at and pour than to "enjoy" but a serviceable Chardonnay if you want to break away from the pear and butter profile that is typical of Napa Chard.
Remember you don't drink the label.

Nice golden color. Some fine bubbles and sulfate nose that dissipated after a few minutes in the glass revealing salty pears and honeydew. Simple and clean on the palate, very like an SB--lemon up front and spice in the back.

I don't generally like Chardonnays, and this is probably rather non-typical of what most people think of a CA Chardonnay-so take that into consideration when seeing my review and score. This wine is beautifully unoaked, with none of the muddled flavors I tend to associate with heavily oak-infused CA wines. That's why I like it and would recommend it highly to anyone with similar tastes.

Very rich/ripe for unoaked Chardonnay. Almost flabby. Really good minerality that may have been helped by the ceramic bottle. Drank as an appertif and drinks very easily.

Small tasting at a friend's place. Notes of mango and citrus. Not typically a white wine fan due to sweetness, but I really enjoyed the sample of this. Already have one bottle at home, but may buy a few more now.

So this may have been the complete antithesis of the Cakebread. I did not anticipate liking this one at all (but I did). Big corporate style wine. It comes in a hokey ceramic bottle. I do not know if this bottle costs more than a normal bottle, but it looks like it costs more. If it does cost more, it pisses me off (I do not want to pay for your gimmicky bullcrap). If it doesn’t cost more, it pisses me off more because I feel manipulated into thinking it costs more and therefore should think the wine is better/cooler/hipper/gangsta than it really is. As a wine, however, I was pleasantly surprised. It may be because it directly followed the Cakebread (which did not quite suck), but this was richer and fuller without being over the top. Very Good.
Somewhat on the citrus fruit side of chardonnay but not the crisp, minerally style, kind of in between with some oak but not buttery, fruit but more citrus than apple.

Very clean and crisp - refreshing change for a California Chardonnay! But that's not all it offers...after a little air, it opens up to show lemon/lime notes and a touch of honeysuckle. In the mouth it has a nice balance of acidity and fruit that leads to a smooth medium finish. A really good wine.

I am so bummed about this wine. I had the ceramic bottle and was waiting to drink this wine. I was rearranging my cellar and accidentally bumped it with a glass bottle, and it cracked like an egg right on my bed. I was able to save about a half glass, and it was amazing. I will have to get another and actually taste it again. I loved the bright tropical fruit and acidity

Tight nose, but I get some citrusy lemon aromas. I get a lemon/tropical fruit palate with a nice grip of acid. It is clean and crisp. I prefer oaked chards, but this is a nice wine.

Bright acidity, zesty fruit, a touch bitter - I like this style of chard much better than the buttery stuff. Not quite "complex" but a good wine for any occasion. Costco, $20. Good QPR.

Tropical and citrus notes. Light creamy white flowers - daffodils. Yellow peach, lime, pineapple and coconut. Decent palate. Kinda short on the finish. Still a nice acid driven wine. Great summer wine. Not quite as complex as the Hendry Unoaked tasted a few days later.
