  • I forgot about this one and may have waited to long to drink it.

When I opened the bottle the first thing I noticed was the bright raspberry nose and I was optimistic that I may still be good. Initially it was tight and not show much fruit, but after letting a glass breath for an hour it opened up little and showed some of the raspberries flavors initially teased in the nose.

The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like raspberry and cranberry. It tastes like prune, mushroom, dust, tea, thyme, chocolate, clove, coffee, vanilla, raspberry and cranberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

  • Our guests enjoyed it to the end before I got a taste.

  • Enjoyable Cab, if a little on the generic side.

  • At Vino Volo, flight "Captivating Cabernets". All red fruit, lactic, sweet and a little hot, soft tannins, jam--everything I hate about most Paso wines. J. Lohr-ish in style at four times the price. Avoid!

  • We bought at the winery for $56!!! We are dumb! Not worth the money!

  • deep garnet color; nose of black cherry; full mouth, cherry flavors with herb (fennel?) at the back end. A little closed and tight. Not a very long finish. I will retry tomorrow.

  • One of many enjoyed at the JD Labor Day bash. This one was just OK. Very fruit forward. No backbone. Dry. Cork withdrawn intact. I'd be telling a lie if I remembered everything about this wine. So, I'm just going to say - it wasn't the crowd favorite - it was still consumed, but it took a while. Two others were gone before it was finally over. the only thing I can really remember was the comment made by my wife who didn't know where this one came from --- "It seems to have that really wild and frontier-like nose. It tastes like Paso." Definitely lighter bodied and fruit forward. Not my favorite. If you have this wine, drink it now - it'll be done by 2016.

  • Simple basic cab with nice polish. Good mouthfeel, med weight, but again a bit simple. Good but uninspiring and throughly bested by an '04 Grand-Puy Ducasse, which cost less at the time of purchase.

  • Not an overally complex wine. Taste of Cherry wiith a nose of pepper and heavy alcohol. Has the taste of a slightly too sweet Red Zinfandel. A very drinkable wine.

  • Popped and poured, drank over 2 nights. Better on night two. Black cherries and pencil lead on the nose. A bit candied on the palate, with a bit of black pepper on the back end. Medium length finish. Nothing complex, but tasty.

  • Served at Daou Winemaker Dinner at Robert's Restaurant - paired with french rack of lamb. Like all the reds on the night, served too warm and as such the flavors were a bit diffuse. Dark, opaque cherry red. The bright red fruits seem a bit confected but are well married to the oak already. Good depth and power with enough oak spice to offset the sweet fruit. Pleasing up front style with a bit of power in reserve. Seemed like a solid but unspectacular effort but I need to try it at a more appropriate temperature.
