So much fun! Popped and poured my last bottle of this. Nose of kettle corn! Full, round body with a hint of citrus. Very enjoyable and probably ready to drink up.

Fun and delicious. I don't know what's up with the guy who keeps giving this ratings in the 70s and low 80s but feel free to send me any more bottles you have. Held up over two days but I'd drink these now.

Give her air and then let her run with the wind. Needs 4 + hrs before the layers unfold. Depth of fruit concealed by the "lightness" of color. Very well made but very hard to coax from her shell.

This second bottle was actually enjoyable. I opened it night one, took a glass & sealed it again for next day. Still really high flying, at the edge of tasteful. Really ripe, flinty, earthy bombshell. Still young but sure balanced enough to mature well. Fun. Not for the faint of heart, new to wine.
Da III. Still barely holding together, which is impressive, almost three nights. QPR still kills me. There are much better wines out there at this price point

P&P, not good. Cork back & in the fridge, needs time? Day II - Damn did I really pay 70 bones for this out of balance hot mess? I have another bottle and a 1.5 . . . ugh. Cork her w vacum, refridge, try again. Strange that I keep coming back for one last sip, trying in my mind to reconcile the notes here. I agree with them all, good & bad. Day III?

Wow. This was a bizarre wine. It started off very hot and tight. Needed some serious air - like four hours. Light and creamy, raisinated fruit. But plush and pink peppercorns, touches of smoked meat. Lots of big fruit. Kinda weird and only okay. Palate is big and saturated. Overall, wasn't sold on this one. Not worth the coin.

This wine has improved significantly since my last notes on 9/6/2012. I got no heat at all and the oak domination seemed to have faded into the background. Instead, the berry compote and sweet spice enhanced with the oaky vanilla, with just a touch of earthy funk to provide balance.

Candied cherry nose, riding on a slightly hot surface. You can taste the splinters here, this borders on over oaked. However, I don't think it crosses over and I really enjoyed this. Blackberry, raspberry, light spices and a fair amount of vanilla. A little below most of Sanguis' other offerings, but a lovely wine nevertheless

This wine flew too close to the sun. An attempt at greatness. A result of tragedy. A shame. Completely out of balance towards ripeness, volatility and alcohol. Generally I am a Sanguis fan. Not this time. Bummer. I do appreciate the irony of the name.
Day 3: Much of the volatility is gone, what is left is....significantly more enjoyable than day 1...though that may be damning with faint praise. Still very ripe. One of the most port-like wines I've ever come across.

Decanted for 4 hours and it was still not done opening up. Awesome wine. Could probably use a couple more years in the bottle which I plan to give the next bottle. Great red fruit flavors with lots of other complex notes. Love Sanguis wine!

I am so disappointed, dumped half the glass. I will revisit it tonight and see if it was a bad bottle. There were definite port tones in the wine, not in a good way.

Aged in cellar since 2014. Decanted for several hours. Still drinking well. With aging, more bold though still fruity.

Big and highly extracted. Blackberries, smoke and some oak. Big rich chewy fruit with a touch of heat on the back end.

Pop and pour. Rich and round Grenache-dominant Rhone blend, still going strong with tasty red and black fruit, firm tannins, light acid. Drink now.

A little herby, medium bodied, nice and cool in the mouth. I don’t receive complexity . This was the best Sanguis I’ve had.

This bottle showed thick dark chocolate, less fruity than the others. Possible oxidation? Still nice.

It was ok and opened up fairly quickly but it was a flower that has not yet blossomed.

This was just too close to over the top for me. Although it was not failty, it eas just too much port like, too little acid , and lacking any finese.

Too much heat on the finish. Definitely needs more time in the bottle & see if it can come together better in balance.
