This is the second bottle within a week which was suffering from over the hill oxidative madeira notes (the first was a Pichon-Baron '95) but in this case quite marked browning gave a hint of what was coming. Coincidentally they came from the same shelf in my Liebherr wine fridge. This was not quite so bad as the PIchon but enough to consign two-thirds of the bottle to the drain. Feeling paranoid now about that shelf, I replaced it with a Fontalloro '04 from the same place to see how that performed.

The cherry-driven fruit on the nose is on the ripe side and relatively dark - although most definitely very savory - with a hint of aceto balsamico. Dusty too, with a touch of oak. On the palate it has gotten rid of all possible baby fat that might have been there and is now very much streamlined and chiseled even. It has splendid, uplifting acidity and gently gripping tannins. Extremely lively still, this is extremely pleasant to sip with our Thursday evening supper.

Felsina has to be the best Chianti producer out there. The 2009 is excellent. Great red cherry and leather flavors. Juicy acidity and a 45 second finish on a $20 Chianti. Their rancia riserva is my favorite Tuscan wine. Across the board, superb.

Enjoyed the 2009 and 2015 side by side. Predictably I preferred the 2009 and nanette the 2015. Very similar wines and completely clear which one has got nine years on it and which one three, so a great lesson in the advancement that six years brings. Two hours in, as the Warriors win game three, the 09 tires out (drink now) and the 15 mellows out, boding well.

It has been nearly two years since I opened a bottle and I believe it is decidedly better than the last one. It was a nice dark garnet in color and the bouquet of dark cherry and earth jumped out at you. Mid-palate it was full of nice acidity with more cherry and a little spice with earthy leather. It was medium bodied and had a good medium finish

Comforting and delicious but not soft, the fruit here ranges across mid-toned-to-dark reds and warm earth. This remais food-friendly and enjoyable on its own a lot like it was a few years ago and is fully open now if it wasn’t then. Not yet fading but don’t sit on these forever. Now-2021.

I liked this better than the previous bottle. "Medium/light bodied and elegant with pretty sour cherry infused fruit, light minerals and fresh acidity" still applies as a partial description but this time I detected more depth and complexity with touches of leather and spice. We couldn't hold off finishing the bottle! Very good.

I'm surprised that in a reputedly ripe and sometimes jammy vintage, Fèlsina managed to produce this medium/light bodied and elegant result with pretty sour cherry infused fruit, light minerals and fresh acidity. The earth, tangy leather and backbone which I often find in this basic CC bottling were little in evidence. Good but not what I was expecting.

Decanted a couple of hours. Ruby. Aromas of cherries, some leather and plums. Bright acidity and good fruit on the palate. Medium length. Some tannins at the end cries for food. Classic crafted sangiovese. Lovely for the price. Will keep 5-7 more years.

I really enjoyed this wine. Popped and poured with Italian Pot Roast sandwiches. Dark and serious. Plentiful black and dark red fruit on the nose and palate. Great acid and moderate tannins. I had to hold myself back from killing the whole bottle on the first night. And glad I did as day two took this wine to a whole new level - earth, cocoa, and dried cherries. VERY good for this price point.

My first go with this particular vintage of this wine and I have to say, this was darn good Chianti Classico. Warm and inviting on the nose, leaning on the dark side of the fruit spectrum with a late arriving note of rose petal that added a classy touch. Though a tad brooding and somewhat concentrated, the palate glided effortlessly with bright, typical red cherry fruit. Complemented with just the right touch of acidity, constant from start to finish, lubricating the saliva glands in just the right way to crave more of what-ever-it-is on-your-plate, but not over done either. Food wine for sure. Slight bitter note of ash and tannin on the finish, keeps everything in check. Should age well, and a definite great buy at $20.

Quick tasting (bottle had been open for 2 days): Ripe cherry fruit, smooth and charming, a ripe but mouthwatering acidity, well integrated oak adds spices, vanilla and coffee flavors. A gentle tannic grip on the long tasty finish. Drinking well already. A very good Chianti Classico, and a recommendation if the price is ok. - 89 points

Garnet colour. Medium+ intense with pronounced cherries and leather. Some spices as well. Medium bodied Chiantic classico with impressive concentration for the price. Medium+ level of acidity and prominent youthfull tannins. Not very complex taste, but it has a lot of red fruit flavors. Stonefruit in the finnish, medium length. Another great edition of this wine.

We drank this at Jan’s HS reunion at a local Italian restaurant. It was a really nice Chianti. The nose was fairly tight but after about two hours it finally opened up. It was medium bodied with a nice ruby color and good clarity. The bouquet was dark cherry with a little herby underbrush and it had nice slight sour cherry and berry mix mid palate. The wine elements showed more acid than tannin which is the way I like a Chianti so it went really well with heavy Italian food. It also finished long on the herby qualities of the Sangiovese grape

Kind of a plain Jane. Nose has just a slight amount of barnyard (which I usually don't like but here is just slight and so just makes it interesting). Palate is fine. Finish is good; lingers on the tongue. Little bit of tannin. Medium-light wine.

Dark ruby in the glass. Sage brush, baked cherry, crushed rock and violet on the bouquet. The palate kicks off with tart raspberry and quickly moves to sandalwood, curry and sage. It glides through the palate with brisk acid and earthy tannin. Savory medium finish. Needs a year or two for the fruit to meld.

2nd day note, though the wine hadn't really changed much.
Dark garnet color, appropriately slightly transparent. Beautiful, dark-toned nose of cherry, dust, leather and nice salty meatiness. Medium to full bodied with plenty of some pretty dry but absolutely beautiful red cherry. The fleshy fruit is underlined by stylish minerality. Terrific lift thanks to good acidity. Prominent tannins are ripe but take one solid grip that leads to a dry, bitter finish. Fruitwise the finish is just a bit hollow which I hope will be fixed with a couple years of aging. Besides that everything is in terrific balance and there is really nothing bothering me. A really nice, bright and moreish expression of Sangiovese and one of the best regular Chianti Classicos out there.

Had it with rigatoni with creamy tomato sauce & parmesan reggiano cheese.
Excellent Chianti Classico and excellent value for the money.

Dark purple. Fairly tight nose showing black cherry and a hint of licorice. Very dry cherry flavours and a tannic dry finish. lots of acidity too. Should improve for 5 years or so.

Tuscany Sangiovese tasting (Prince Wine Store - Bank Street): Still quite closed, but hints of cherry and other fruits with a dark fruit palette and big structured tannins.

Typical hard tannins and sour fruit to start with, but with 2-3 hours of air it became less savage and had a quite elegant nose. Medium weight and good length. Good year for Chianti!

This was one of the best Chianti Classico's that I've had in years. For $19, this is a steal. Silky tannins, elegant, finish is long. Going to go back and buy 6 more.

The Italian Wine Masters (Metropolitan Pavilion): The nose showed dusty red fruits, herbs and dry cocoa. On the palate, it was silky smooth yet mouthwatering with ripe red berries, cedar and herbs. The finish showed drying tannins and begged for a year or two in the cellar.

- Purple color with aromas of blackberry. It's balanced and has flavors of cherry, blackberry, tar and tobacco with a medium body. Smooth texture with a medium finish.
