Honestly probably past its prime, at least this bottle. Genuinely lovely nose with some baking spices and a hint of pepper, but the fruit is extremely soft on the palate. Decent finish, medium acidity.

PnP first night and was somewhat disjointed. corked and finished on day 2 and was much better. Would recommend a decant if going to drink in short term based on this bottle

Mogen grenache som bäst. Röda bär, tertiära aromer som kommer fram som söt frukt, sidentanniner. Härlig komplex doft. Dricks väldigt bra nu. Sabon är favoritproducent i CdP. Utmärkt.

Drinking well at 11 years old. Tannins are very smooth and the wine has plenty of fruit without being jammy. A balance between old-school and modern CdP.

Pleasant, inoffensive. Followed a cab, so our palates may have been off. I actually enjoyed the 2011 version more, despite being a less vaunted vintage. Community seems to agree.

Did not find the savory or other typical CdP qualities I love to be substantially represented in this wine. Let breathe for 2 hours before drinking. Found it to be enjoyable but fairly straightforward and uncomplicated.

Decanted and drank. See Eric Guido’s note from 06 Nov 2019: spot on. Savory elements are huge in this wine. For my palate this is balanced and won’t hold to the end of the drinking window; drink up.

Hmm? Did I misjudge you the last time I tasted you, or was it just an odd phase? Tonight, the 2010 Roger Sabon Reserve was on point, showing a gorgeous and almost savory display of bright, ripe, raspberry fruit mixed with wild herbs, sous bois, mushroom sauce, toasted-orange skins, dusty minerals, and spiced florals. On the palate, I found velvety textures, enlivened by brisk acids, with citrus tinged red fruits, hints of plum, blood orange, savory braised meats and spice. The finish was long, yet seeming completely resolved, as ripe black fruits slowly faded, along with sweet herbal tones and hints of spice.

The '10 Roger Sabon Reserve is in a fruit forward stage, with a bouquet of baked plum, blackberry, and cherry, with notes of rosemary, crushed violets and wet stone. On the palate, I found silky textures with dark black-purple fruits, sweat and savory spices and herbs, yet I craved more acidity and persistence. The finish was medium in length, with hints of plum, and sweet herbs.
I'm hoping this is just in an adolescent phase and that with time we may find more depth. At the moment, it's simply a very easy drinking and enjoyable CdP, but not worth the initial tariff.

Rule the Rhone; 10/27/2016-11/3/2016 (Northern & Southern Rhone): Enjoyed with lamb and duck which was an excellent pairing for this. Black currant. Red currant. Pnp'ed and took some time to open up. Maybe some hints of pepper. Interesting. A bit overshadowed by some other wines we had that day.

Is this my ode to CDP? It says something about me That I almost never see Food that doesn't pair really well With its loamy, earthy taste and smell At least that's the story I tell
Truth be told, I might not serve it with filet of sole But if you did, I'd just call it bold And savor every velvet drop Against that buttery, lemony pop I wouldn't stop.
Often I will drink a sabon With nothing, just on its own And so enjoy its herbal tones But I drank one with sushi last night And it even then seemed right Friendly and big yet somehow light
Of course not all sushi is the same You may think it delicate, just by name But in this case, mine wasn't so tame Crunchy tuna rolls with lots of spice Oily salmon and mackerel by the slice With perfectly seasoned sticky rice
I want to tell you more about the wine How purple, how full, how smooth, how fine... But there was no real analysis of the vine On this particular night, in this particular case, Just wine and dinner going in my face At the right time and in the right place.
On the nose: Blueberry, sadle leather, dark plums. On the palate: Blueberry, pepper, and some herbs. Good tannins but a little to high alcohol heat. Ok balanced and this will continue to develop for many years to come. Medium + finish

Day 1: Aromas start out with saddle leather and funk. Become more stewed tomato, pine and coffee grinds. An expressive, interesting if strange nose. Palate follows the nose but needs food to really reveal itself. (92)
Day 2: greatly improved. Balanced and integrated. Less funk and stewed notes. More dark fruit, spice and earth. Yum!

Drank in Avignon - 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Cinsault Still quite young and closed, needs another 2-3 years for this to open up. Made in a modern style but with classic CNDP notes.

Still not ready. After decanting and 15 minutes in the glass, it began to open up, revealing some potential but it's too early to tell. A blah nose. Dark, earthy, fruity core but contained. For the price, I'd hesitate to buy it again given the many great CdPs around the price that wee "know" are excellent.

Fruit, pepper, herbs (lavender, sage, bay, rosemary), garrigue, violets, rust, dustiness, minerals, and smoke on the bouquet. The wine drinks like it smells, adding notes of baking spices and enhanced fruitiness. Medium acid, light to medium tannin, balanced. This somewhat modern CdP cannot hide its Old World roots. Highly enjoyable! Drinking very well now and should continue to through 2022+.

Really liked this wine. Balanced, good acid, medium bodied, lots of fruit but not jammy, not a fruit bomb, actually quite restrained, drank in the Cayman Islands, will try to drink again if I can find it.

Drank at MEGU in NYC. Decanted and first tasted after 30 minutes; very closed. After 1 hour it began to open and show it's potential. This has all the elements of something great but needs another 5 years to develop. Drink 2018- 2028.

The nose showed rich red and black berries with savory mushroom and meaty notes, a hint of pepper and herbal tea leaves. On the palate it was medium bodied with firm structure buried beneath intense red cherry fruit, cinnamon spice, and led to a long, long palate staining finish. It's enjoyable now with a short decant, yet should age and improve effortlessly for 7 - 10 years.
