I'm so glad I found a bottle of this from a new wine/liquor store I've found that belong to a lovely couple.
I was a bit worried that this would bottle would be flawed like 2/3 bottles of 97 Napanook I purchased from winebid(1 of the bottles were perfect and the wine was as well) but gladly that wasn't the case.
Reminiscint of the 2003 Dominus I had a few years ago.
Touch green and cherry and currant. Cocoa, leather and tobacco.

Wow. Still deep dark color, medium body. Day 1: overwhelming nose of dark fruit, vanilla, cedar a bit tobacco, concentrated and silky. Day 2: less dominant fruit but silky, silky, silky. A wine of high pleasure. I guess this will keep for 2-3 more years! Bravo

Slow evolution since I tasted it five years ago, dark red in colour, simple but still tight on the palate, the nose is absolutely beautiful, very gracious and sweet! Ready to go but not fully mature!

Gorgeous bottle. I mean how very youthful this is drinking right now. PnP and enjoyed with Memorial Day burgers. So good. Dark plum, black cherry, mature wood, and sandal wood dominate this wine. Really nice. The depth wasn't there, nor did the wine hold u[ over a few hours, but immediately gratifying. Well well made! Cellared since release. Last bottle. :/

Tasted blind. Dark but translucent ruby color turning crimson at the rim with a transparent edge. Rich nose of chocolate, earth and vanilla. The palate is full-bodied and creamy with a velvety texture. Flavors of dark cherry, tobacco, espresso, chocolate, toasted vanilla and dried herbs. Finishes long and supple. I was quite pleasantly surprised upon revelation that Christian Mouex would make wines in this style. Perhaps the vintage had something to do with it. This seemed very youthful age 12. Nevertheless, it was delicious. Drink now until 2018.

This is a pretty well made cabernet, but is not great. The nose has classic cassis, black cherry, cedar, dusty earth. The palate is nicely balanced, has dark fruits, some herb, and vanilla on the finish. Overall this is solid and good, but nothing special and the finish feels slightly off to me with too much oaky vanillin. Not sure it will get much better with age at this point as the fruit is fading.

In schönem reifem Trinkstadium.

No formal note. Youthful, relatively simple nose, very ripe blackcurrant fruit, vanilla. Quite full bodied on the palate, again simple fruit profile, soft tannins but flat acidity. Touch over-ripe and flabby for me, and in truth not really my style, but certainly drinkable.

Dark ruby in colour! Alluring nose of spices, cherry fruits and a touch of leather! Still a bit tannic on the palate, quite tight! Not as fruity as I might expect, a touch of vanilla wood, coffee beans! The colour just amazing! Drink well over the next five to seven years!

Opaque garnet with ruby rim. Mid-to-full bodied, dry, with a semi-tactile mouthfeel. Ripe aromas and flavors of cassis, black and red currants, blackberries, plums, licorice, and cigar box; touches of smoke and black pepper, mocha and spice. Finishes on a minerally note of roasted coffee. European in style with good depth, length, and balance.

Rather compact dark red colour, slightly lighter at the edge. In the nose dark and red berries – plums and blackcurrants – clearly spicy, some barnyard aromas, some eucalyptus, toasted oak barrels. On the palate more than medium bodied, rather alcoholic, dark and some red berries, spicy, rather much tannin that stays on in the aftertaste. Reasonably approachable and has some developed aromas, but still rather young on the palate. The noticeable alcohol reduces the score somewhat. 87-88 p. Tasted from Enomatic.

Good and definitely improved with several hours of air. Elegant and layered with nice combo of dark fruit, earth and oak. The only negative is a slight green/herbal tinge to the finish although this improved with air. Drink now but could hold.

This open and seductive medium-bodied wine is just right to drink now and over the next five years. Sweet, ripe, elegant fruit, with an oaky note still (but very much in the background), this is a crowd-pleaser with no hard edges.

Everything is spot on except one, the alcohol level is just a bit too high and it is almost destroy the whole bottle of wine, it is heady at 14%! Except that, everything is just very fine to me. Dense dark ruby in color, very youthful! Rich decandant red jammy fruits, sensational, almost full bodied on the palate, charming nose of vanilla pod, orange peel and Marmalade, quite dense on the palate, evolving nicely over the past few years, except a touch of alcoholic nose, everything is setting beautifully in the right place, it will reach 92-94 easily apart from the alcoholic nose, can be kept for 5 to 8 more years! Will try to report the second day development, I only drank one third of one bottle today! I think I better take Mr Moueix advice to decant it a couple of hours before it is served!!! The instruction is in their website: http://www.dominusestate.com/napanook/napanook2003.html The decandant fragrant nose continue to perform in the second day, the nose if more open, more flowery, really nice! Less heat on the palate and more velvety dark fruits shown, holding strongly but beautifully in the second day! 92 points This is a seriously made wine in my opinion!

Dominus Masterclass with Edouard Moueix (St. Regis Hotel, Singapore): Not knowing what to expect, I was actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wine. Nose was very attractive and complex, with deep scents of cranberries, cassis and plums, along with a touch of white peppery spice, some bramble, toasty vine stems, tobacco, boiled herb sand subtle oak. Plenty of interesting bits - only whiffs of high alcohol marred it. More savoury boiled herbs on the rich palate, with plums, spice and warm cassis - sweet fruit that was well balanced with some fresh acidity. Some cool year elegance here. There were little brambly undercurrents moving into the finish full of prickly spice. Slightly bitter at the end, slightly short, with firm but velvety tannins and some smokey cedar wood fading into a short alcohol burn. Alcohol aside, a pretty decent wine for its price. Edouard Moueix says this is not a "second wine", but rather a different bottling. If "different" meant "equally good", then you could sure have fooled me. This was overshadowed in every way by the "grand vin". That aside though, it was very decent in its own right.

Dark ruby in color with a restrained nose featuring dark cherry and a little cedar. Medium bodied with very ripe, somewhat tart fruit profile. A little oak and spice showing. Seemed to lack structure giving the wine a somewhat empty feeling on the palate. A little hot on the medium length finish with some tannins still showing. May have a little improvement in it but lack of structure makes this questionable. Quite nice but not worth the money in my opinion. Decanted 2 hours.

Either a little faded at this point or I didn't allow it enough time to open. After about 30 min. in the glass, it was still muted up front and through the middle. I'd rate it an 85 as of 7/2009.

Nice wine, deep red/pruple in the glass with lots of fruit on the nose. Needed about an hour in the decanter to open up but once it had some air very nicely integrated, smidge too much alcohol though. Black fruits on the palate giving way to a dry, medium length finish. Yep, pretty nice.

Smooth bodied, with red currant, cherry and hints of spicebox, however, this wine failed to really make much of an impression. Popped and poured and perhaps would have shown better if given some time to breath, though it had not opened up much with an hour or so in the glass.

Very elegant and delicious. It had a slight overripe fruit taste which I'm not partial to but I could forgive it that for what was otherwise a balanced and harmonious wine.

Nice mix of red and black fruits with good midpalate. Very bordeaux in style--not a jammy fruit bomb. Well-balanced except for touch of heat in finish. Not the best Napanook i've had, but good value for a decent Napa cab.

Once Upon a Vine XIII - New Orleans, LA by Martin Wine Cellar (Pavillion of Two Sisters): Definitely not as extracted as the Dominus. Medium ruby color and slightly thin in the mouth. Nice and aromatic with black cherry and blackberry with hints of herbs, cedar, and orange peel. Flavors follow through on the palate with lots of pure cherry flavors, raspberry, and some toasty, oaky and vanillin notes. This is obviously made for early drinking, not aging, but even now, it isn't the most impressive Cali meritage at this price.
