  • This bottle was very different than described at release by those who tasted early. The merlot gave it bright red fruit, and the Cab (10 %) gave it some nice herb. Such a surprise, not hedonistic or over the top at all.

  • Pleasant St. Emilion, black > red fruit, some velvet / chocolate cherries classic for Merlot with medium plus tannins and acid. Drinking pretty well, but still may improve with another 5 years in bottle.

  • Well build but still too young. Hardly breaking at the rims. Let it lie down for five more years. Full bodied and build for the long haul.

  • This could be the most intense and concentrated wine of the vintage. Youthful, fleshy, intense, lush and opulent, the wine delivers layers of licorice, espresso, black cherry, truffle and stone in every decadent sniff and sip.

  • The 2004 Bellevue Mondotte sports a dark inky / deep purple color profile, giving it a dark profound intrigue. Mesmerizing bouquet filled with ripe black fruits, spice, earth, espresso beans and minerality. Balanced touches on the palate, rich, plush, highly concentrated with blackberry, plum, dark chocolate and tobacco leaves, coupled with good level of acidity keeping it refreshing and juicy. Tannins are plentiful, polished, contains a slight dry edge to it. Satisfying finish with earthy, smoky and chocolaty notes.

This is one of the best 2004s I have tasted thus far, it's still very young. This wine will go places and you can sense the potential from the first sniff. Looking fwd to try it again in maybe 5 years and see what pleasure it will bring.

  • Bordeaux Tasting (Private Residence (Miami, FL)): Black and purple color. Bouquet is concentrated with ripe black fruits, sweet dough, and lactic notes. Palate shows lower acidity and thick juicy red fruit, xmas spices, and some chalky feel without overwhelming the senses finishing short with lightly bitter fruit. This is a concentrated modern wine that is true to its limestone-rich terroir, and still has plenty of time to settle down. 94+

  • One of the most concentrated wines of the vintage. Produced from yields of just 15 hectoliters per hectare, the wine, while still young is starting to become civilized with its licorice, black cherry, plum liqueur, earth, espresso bean and spicy perfume. Rich, full bodied, smooth and supple, the plush, polished, opulent finish leaves an impression of ripe, juicy, chocolate covered plums, earth and kirsch.

  • Opened and let sit for about an hour before New Year's Eve dinner. Bouquet slightly muted blackberries. Not unexpectedly for a young bordeaux, tannins were strong especially on mid-palate but the fruit still shone through to a medium length finish. Black cherries with mineral undertones, medium to full bodied, this is very good now but if can wait better to let it sit in the cellar for another 4-5 years or longer.

  • Decanted for half an hour before drinking. Dark ink/deep purple colour, very intense on nose, hint of blackcurrants and blackberries, rich and powerful on palate, full bodied, noticeable tannins and acidity but are quite well-integrated, the style is quite consistent with the owner's flagship wine - Pavie, but more approachable. Very interesting wine! Drinking beautifully right now but will be much more interesting after few more years cellaring, great potential.
