This bottle was very different than described at release by those who tasted early. The merlot gave it bright red fruit, and the Cab (10 %) gave it some nice herb. Such a surprise, not hedonistic or over the top at all.

Pleasant St. Emilion, black > red fruit, some velvet / chocolate cherries classic for Merlot with medium plus tannins and acid. Drinking pretty well, but still may improve with another 5 years in bottle.

This could be the most intense and concentrated wine of the vintage. Youthful, fleshy, intense, lush and opulent, the wine delivers layers of licorice, espresso, black cherry, truffle and stone in every decadent sniff and sip.

The 2004 Bellevue Mondotte sports a dark inky / deep purple color profile, giving it a dark profound intrigue. Mesmerizing bouquet filled with ripe black fruits, spice, earth, espresso beans and minerality. Balanced touches on the palate, rich, plush, highly concentrated with blackberry, plum, dark chocolate and tobacco leaves, coupled with good level of acidity keeping it refreshing and juicy. Tannins are plentiful, polished, contains a slight dry edge to it. Satisfying finish with earthy, smoky and chocolaty notes.
This is one of the best 2004s I have tasted thus far, it's still very young. This wine will go places and you can sense the potential from the first sniff. Looking fwd to try it again in maybe 5 years and see what pleasure it will bring.

Well build but still too young. Hardly breaking at the rims. Let it lie down for five more years. Full bodied and build for the long haul.
