PnP then consumed over 2 hours. A husky, hirsute, barrel-chested, kind of Cabernet laden with cedar and spice. Over time, the dark fruit brings flavor and textural balance into focus, but tannin remains too conspicuous.

Popped and decanted for a few minutes, and then began to drink. Just an amazing wine. I thought it was drinking better than a 2008 Plumpjack Estate Cabernet, which we drank earlier in the night.

Served at Christmas dinner with boeuf bourguignon. From memory - big California cab, blackberry and spice. Supple tannins and good balance keep it from going over the top. Great stuff.

Decanted for about 1.5 hours. Drinking well, though still a bit closed down with some tannins that need to be resolved. This will be really great with some additional time in the bottle.

Opened this wine and had a taste immediately. I was suprized at how light the corked looked. there was not much color. This had me a bit worried. The wine in my glass had plenty of deep dark color. Upon tasting, the wine was big with plenty of fruit and berries. The tannins were large and lingered for a while. I was still tasting this wine after 30 seconds. This is velvety smooth and supple.

This will get better with another year or two of bottle age. Had this within the past week and didn't like it as well as the 2008 Scion. Scion has more fruit showing through at this point and is my favorite from this vintage with the exception of the Bob's Burnpile. This is still an excellent wine and one I look forward to revisiting a year from now.

Since I can't say it better myself, this is how Robert Young discribes this wine: "2008 Big Rock CAb is chocked full of black cherry, blackberry, and plum aromas mingled with hints of smoke, toasted nuts, pepper spice and cola. The taste is juicy and supple. The fruity taste of the wine is accompanied by plenty of soft tannins that linger in a long toasty finish.". AWESOME!

This wine has held up nicely. Nose of earth and blackberry. Soft, pleasing palate. I enjoyed it.
