4/17 disgorgement. Aldehyde, bruised apple, yellow cherry, and barnyard funk on the nose, which does dissipate. The palate is pure citrus (lemon, grapefruit peel) and maraschino liqueur, with volume and excellent cut. The finish is dry, savory, and satisfying. Fantastic!

From 75cl. Last bottle of 6 bottles degorged Feb 2020, and the best showing yet. Bone dry, with finely poised, bright acidity, finely-etched, lip-smackingly sour bright-red fruit. Just wish I had another 6 bottles at this stage of develeopment to follow over the next 3 years. 90–91P

From 75cl, same batch as previously noted on 29.05.2021, but this bottle was in a better place: lovely strawberry/raspberry action, excellent balance, serious wine, where the sweetness comes from fruit, not sugar, and the texture is accordingly lithe. 89-90P

From 75cl, disgorged Feb 2020. Not quite as acetic as Lallement's Cuvée Réserve tasted last night, this is better in balance with itself, and – above all– unlike that wine this one has enough bubbles to remind you you're drinking Champagne and not some kind of "natural wine" which has refermented in bottle. Nonetheless a bone-dry, austere offering, with very little fat or covering-up of its many hard edges. A Champagne maker for high-end Cava lovers, perhaps? Either you like this style or you don't: I evidently once thought I did, as I bought several cases of Lallement's wines last summer at cellar door (TN 16.09.2020). "Champagne Warrior", whose ratings I usually find on the low side, probably got this one right with various scores in the mid-eighties. "The View from the Cellar" usually accords better with my opinions, and indeed I'm on board tonight: 86-87P(?)

Sauer - Ziereisen - Jura - Champagne; 9/9/2020-9/16/2020 (Escherndorf - Efringen-Kirchen - Arbois - Cramant/Bouzy/Verzenay): From 75cl P+P at Jean Lallement, Verzenay. 100% PN from old vines (over 35 years) 8% of which is red wine, 4g dosage. Disgorged February 2020 (no disgorgement information on the label). Very pale pink, excellent red-fruit scent (lighter than the Réserve but more direct than the Tradition cuvée); bone dry entry in perfectly poised balance with soft, generous fruit. Super-clean finish probably just needed more time in a bigger glass to be truly satisfying. Serious rosé with excellent potential, a world away from the dilute, sugary St. Valentine’s Day Massacres offered by some Grandes Marques. Superb value for 22,50€ at cellar door. 90-91P
A funky swervey champagne Rose’ of all Pinot (8% still juice) where all the fruit is contained within a burlap sack of barley husk and smoked peaches. Muted dried fruits - dried orange peel, dried rose petals, dried wild strawberry, celery seed, fennel, and Parmesan. Tart berries only on the finish. So awesomely unexpectedly savory.

April, 2017, disgorgement. First Lallement, what a striking, savory rosé Champagne. Light salmon-pink, with steady, fine bubbles. Strawberry, hints of orange peel, and a mineral savoriness precedes a deep, powerful, yet chiseled, textured, even precise, creamy palate of mineral-tinged strawberry. First, but certainly will not be last, bravo!

My first try of Lallement purchased from Perman wines in Chicago. Enjoyed in the hotel room with cheese and crackers. Beautiful precise, crystalline, minerally, slightly strawberry champagne!! Excellent!
Superb rose bubbly. I have yet to be disappointed in a bottle from Lallement. This is filled with strawberry, hints of cherry, and a lovely creamy feel that maintains a crisp and lithe feel despite that. Really delightful.

Salmon in color, with medium beads. Wild strawberries, floral hints, lemon cream and hint of brioche on the nose. Easy drinking, with red berries, creamy mouthfeel, good acidity and a spherical finish. Does not have the tension and grip this time around, but a good entry level rose champagne nevertheless.

Salmon color. Initially shy on the nose but opens up to reveal yeast rolls, wild berries, nut oils. A round palate shows medium acidity, slightly underipe strawberries and a leesy, minerally finish. Good value for a rose champagne.

Took this to my local favorite BYOB sushi place. Disgorged Nov, 2012. At one point I gave a taste to the head sushi chef and asked him for parings. He gave me 3 separate pieces of sushi/sashimi that worked very well together. - Nose of fresh red raspberry, cherry and strawberry - On the palate it was very clean and pure. The flavors of strawberries took over from red cherry and ripe red raspberry with time. The acid was excellent.

Strawberries for days on this bottle. There were lees still in the bottle floating. This gave a slight bitter note as well as a bread note. This detracted from the delicious strawberry & ripe cherry flavors in the wine. I have noticed significant bottle variation with these wines, but they can have a wonderful red fruit character without being sweet at all.

Disgorged May 2, 2011 Brought to party at friends house. I even got to saber one of the bottles. The 2 bottles showed some different characteristics. One bottle had great, smooth mouthfeel along with being a little softer than the other bottle. The other bottle was sharper, more tartness and not much smoothness. One was a good apertif and the other would be best with dinner. Both were delightful but it was interesting to see the bottle variation. I'm wondering if one bottle had more residual lees left in after disgorgement and that accounts for the rounder, smoother mouthfeel.

Disgorged May 2, 2011 This bottle was phenomenal. I was concerned there were lees in the bottle but I believe this contributed to the incredible texture of the Champagne. The flavors are more towards strawberry & ripe red cherry rather than tart pomegranate & raspberry. The acidity is soft but good and the texture & mouthfeel is wonderful.

Salmon pink. Full of yeast on the nose with citrusy, red cherry fruits underneath and with time in the glass, quite floral. The very first sip was the best showing (sad to say that). The bubble gently melt on the palate and reveals excellent delineation of bright citrus lemon, red cherry and mineral, not overly complex but it has such vivacity and sleek, vibrant profile to seduce your palate with intense, saline mineral infused finish. However, after some aeration the dosage started to get dominating and become sweet, almost flabby. The dosage does slowly settling down in the glass but nothing compare to the Gerry first sipped. Need time.

Smooth and rich and more than a little sweet. Perhaps it is just because the fruit is so intense that I mentioned sweetness, because one shouldn't view the sweetness as a bad thing here. I noticed hints of rose petals and strawberry. $63.99 OH Retail
