Intense nose, vanilla, tobacco, black fruits and earthy notes.
Palate with balsamic accents, the woodiness is subtle, well integrated, with flavors of black fruits and tobacco. It’s quite rich and intense but well balanced with good acidity. Second part of the palate with undergrowth accents. The wine reminds me of a “luxurious” Chianti, it’s pleasant and savory at the same time. Correct finish, grainy and fruity at the same time with good length.
Very good Sangiovese.

Colour does not give away the age for what is essentially a Chianti. Medium to deep ruby; forward nose of pure dark fruit, mostly cherry with a hint of earth and balsamic notes. Palate is rich, balanced, with little more complexity of forest floor. Decent finish. Such pleasure to drink and many years left.

I decanted and strained my Fontalloro, and then I let it aerate for about an hour. There was a bit of sediment in the bottle. The 2008 Fontalloro is at its prime, but I think that it will last another ten years. I enjoyed it over two evening's. There is still a bit of tannin, and a fair amount of fruit. Is it worth $70 a bottle? $60 would be better.

Double-decanted to remove the sediment. Red cherry and raspberry fruit, dried tomatoes and dried herbs. After a while in the glass, spicy seasoning pops up and nicely expands the aroma profile. The palate adds an element of aging with a bit of wet earth, but otherwise intense fruit. Still pretty tangible tannin and high on acidity.

Mmm, this is sleek. An alluring nose of black cherry, oregano, shoe polish, and faint hints of balsamic. The palate is still quite taut, dark/bitter cocoa, but then moving to cranberry and sour cherry, salty with mineral and slate. Mmm, this is clean, dark and brooding, but not remotely heavy. Just a beautiful expression of Sangiovese.

Tuscany 2008 (Winicjatywa): very dark colour with lighter rim. nose: really without personality, finishing off with some tobacco. taste: cherries with stones, red curants; medium (+) acid; sandy tannins; tart finish. Had better vintages of this one. Nothing Impresive.

Wine is beautifully open - aromatics of ripe red fruits with a whiff of oak. Palate is dense, and just beginning to show secondary notes. While it lacked a bit of complexity, the overall pleasure factor is very high...drink or hold for another decade.

Ruby red. Needed a couple of hours in the glass to open up. Dark, tannic and mineral aromas, with notes of leather, prunes and forest floor. Masculine, tannic, rustique and a bit astringent on the palate. Concentrated. Has fruit for further development and will most probably improve with more cellaring.

Super Tuscans (Reasonably priced) (Lou's): Another excellent wine but for $48, it gets hard to justify that cost. I was frankly surprised at this as i expected a bit better. Ruby/purple in color. The nose is a bit dusty with dark cherries. On the palate, a bit sweet on the front end with dark cherry fruit. Firm tannins. I suppose it may still develop a bit, and I did enjoy it, but it was below expectations.

Sour cherry alongside some baked earth terracotta type scents, coffee, and a resiny spice. Palate is still amply structured, even the next day, with plenty of acidity covering a tart cherry core. Good, but not a great Fontalloro.

This bottle never opened up fully after a one hour decant and then over the next two. Stayed a bit tight and a bit tannic, with a drying finish. Good underlying fruit, good nose. The last two I have opened were much more open, not sure whether this is bottle variation, the phase of the moon, or a dumb stage.

I had a number of these in the cellar but bought one at retail to check in. Corked. Brought it back and got another. Coravined a glass. Deep, dark and clear. Ringing of black cherry with a note of mint or eucalyptus that broadened over time as the tannins became more chalky with air and the fruit emerged. Very taut now. Cannot wait to try this in five years or more.

From 375 ml. Opaque, slightly cloudy crimson color. Intense nose of huckleberry, accented by an odd, persistent aroma of vanilla and latex. This was also evident on the palate, which otherwise was quite tart and tannic despite more than an hour of decanting. Had this at a restaurant, so storage conditions may have been to blame? Would be interested to know if others had this same issue.

Nose is really shut down at first. Palate is tighter than a drum. After 3 hours in the decanter,. some mint and eucalyptus show up in the nose, eucalyptus palate, very tannic finish. I would say too early to open this; almost had a young Barolo defiance about it.

Day 2 note; bought off a restaurant list last night.
Murky ruby at the core, lightening out to translucence on the rim. Ripe black & red fruits on the nose.
Lithe and red-fruited on the palate; this almost dances on your tongue. Still tannic on the finish, so this has time to go. This is the one Felsina release that I don't always look for, as for my palate it tends to show as their most "modern"-styled wine. That said, this is very attractive, and in retrospect, a vintage that I should have bought.

Drank very well tonight after a 5 hour decant, and continued to improve over the next two hours. Well integrated with cherry fruit and acid in balance and tannins in the background. Coming into a window early, which makes sense for the vintage, and batting above weight for the vintage, glad I bought a bunch.

Powerfully structured -- at the moment this one needs both food (red meat was great) and time in a decanter (at least a couple hours). Won't touch another until it's 10 years old, and I suspect that will still be way too early.

Maybe good value for money, but Tuscan Sangiovese is able to show at least 15/20 labels better that this one. Imposing nose, but reveals itself a little bit too aggressive on the palate. Hard to drink more than two glasses. Iconico but not fantastico.

Seems a bit muted today, not getting a lot aromatically or on the palate. Cherries and leather, acid and tannin, all present. As other guests are enjoying it, I am going to assume my palate is shot today.

Decanted for an hour before tasting. Opaque purple core, ruby rim. Black cherries, cherry liqueur, leather, mocha, espresso and spicy oak on the nose and palate. Big, generous and fairly tannic – clearly on the young side. Softens up and improves during the course of the evening. Good now, but should be even better after another two to three years in the cellar – decant or hold (90-93 points).

Excellent! Opened early in the day. Flavors and aromas developed nicely from fairly tight to full and generous. Saline effect came forward after a few hours. Worked well with dinner. The bit left afterward showed stronger tannins. Waiting a good interval before the next bottle.

Popped and poured. The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered cherry, dried red fruit, leather, earth, tobacco, coffee, spices and a hint of menthol on the nose. On the palate the balanced wine showed cherry, dried red fruit, earthy notes, tobacco, spices, some shredded dark chocolate, some coffee and a hint of tea, paired with high prominent acidity, medium-plus well-integrated tannin and very good length. Very Sangiovese. Not quite as good as the 2006. Needs food. 89+ for now.
