The wine was pretty and airy with red currant, strawberries, flowers, five spices and pomegranate. It was ethereal with red fruit sweetness and high transparency. With air in the glass, it had built up more layers and complexity. The wine was poised, pure and elegant. Very good.

Vosne 1er crus (Taste Paradise, Ion Orchard): Cork showed signs of seepage but read that this was a common issue in 2010 Hudelot-Noëllats so wasn’t that worried. A large dollop of five-spice on the nose and the palate, I loved the purity of red fruit, silky tannins and weightlessness of this. The most archetypal Vosne and an excellent example to show why people fall in love with Burgundies. My WOTN by far.

Hudelot Noellat Dinner with the Wine Group (Zazie's, San Francisco): Light ruby, age-appropriate bricking; high intensity aromatics, Asian five spice, vosne nose, strawberries; palate is light bodied with good mouthfeel, medium-plus to high acid, balanced medium alcohol (13.5%), exceptional complexity with spice and red fruits, lovely balance; finish is long. Exceptional burgundy, balanced and complex, and an exceptional elegant texture throughout. Really lovely, plenty ahead of it. 94+
The wine is absolutely beautiful with darkish red fruit, spice, wild flowers and herbs. Palate is open and expressive with strong core red fruit. It is feminine and silky with good density. While it is already delicious, it will certainly benefit from further cellaring to add on more nuance. Charles has nailed this vintage.

Pale ruby. Big aromas of freshly chopped mint leaf and menthol and red cherry fruit. The fruit follows through on the palate and there’s charcoal, smoke and burnt log and spice too. Huge amounts of complexity despite its youth. The wine of the night in a line up of four red Burgundies from village to grand cru.

Left to breathe in bottle for 2-3hrs before drinking. Very impressive juice. Very well balanced wine although still framed by considerable structure which is understandable given its youth. Had a weightless sort of intensity. Long finish and definitely has a bright future ahead of it. Very enjoyable now with some air; will probably hit its peak in a few years' time.

Consistent with previous note. It takes around three hours of aeration to fully blossom. Love Noellat's 2010 vintage.

Deep black and red fruit. Good transparency and it is very fresh and tasty with some asian spiced added. Nice.

Vosne Millésime - Noblesse des Clos Vougeot - Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne (Château du Clos de Vougeot): Tasting. Black and red fruit aromas with hints of liqueur and sweet baking spice. Slightly more black on palate with lots of power with firm structure. Very good, 90-92 point potential for me this morning.
