Medium plus ruby core, short ruby clear rim. Heady, port-like aromas and flavors of black cherry liquor, blueberry jam, alcohol, burnt leaf, bourbon vanilla. Off dry, lowish acid, medium plump tannins, hot alcohol 16.9%. Full bodied. Long. Skip port, this is huge stuff. Still very Paso. Very good 4 of 5. Peaked, drink now and for five more years.

Wow! What a great surprise this was. One of Opolo's best. Full fruity nose with a jammy taste. Everyone took a sip and snapped their eyes to the bottle to make sure they knew how to get it again. A classic Zin that's fun to drink and "loud", easy to drink.

Paired with a recipe from "the seduction cookbook" (Gorgonzola cheese and walnut stuffed chicken breasts with roasted grapes). Just a spectacular wine from beginning to end. Our guests thought it was one of the best wines they had had in some time -so did I.

Pre-Hospice du Rhone 2012; 4/25/2012-4/27/2012 (Paso Robles, CA): More distinctive than the summit creek bottling with a spicy zin nose. Sweet, somewhat jammy berry fruit on the palate with more baking spices in the finish. Good.
