Very impressive wine right now. Had it years ago and was good then, but it has reached a new level. Still has that rich, dense fruit but much more balanced and the purity of fruit is excellent.

We opened and decanted over the course of a few hours. I was very concerned over the first hour - it seemed very disjointed - but it resolved into something quite spectacular around the two hour mark. Glad that we waited until then to consume, and will make sure to decant accordingly next time.
Tasting Notes: Dark fruits, cherry, and cola, with and a touch of smoke. Some earthiness on the nose as well. It’s drinking perfectly now and won’t hesitate to start working through my remaining bottles, but it should hold up for a few more years.

Secondary fermentation. So disappointing! After the bubbles blew off, what was left reminded me of Cherry Cola. Too bad, my previous Paul Hobbs Pinots have been very enjoyable.

Just had to open this as I have been sitting on it for over 5 years.
Tonight this wine was oh so smooth and balanced. Cherry, some cigar leaf and very viscous mouth feel for a Pinot. A well produced wine. Find some from this 8 yea old vintage.

Black cherry fruit, then heavy tobacco and cola notes. Nice acidic finish, and still a hint of oak. Better than I typically expect of Hobbs as a food wine. Very good with our teriyaki salmon.
2/13/2018. Again, much better with food, in this case roast chicken, than I've come to expect with Hobbs.

Decanted for ~1 hour. Small amount of sediment. Initial funky aroma, which turned to smoky. Medium to plus mouthfeel, with some cola and some spice. The expected dark red fruits were present, but fading and were overcome by the ample acidity, possibly indicating a bit too much age, so drink up, or skip the decant(?).

Very solid Russian River pinot noir. Nice effort for Paul Hobbs.
Flavors of cherry, raspberry and vanilla. Well integrated. This may have a few more years of aging left, but should drink within the next couple of years.

A good wine. Somewhere between the lightness and refined Dumol and the thicker density of a Kosta. Worth having in your cellar and this wine to me is underrated.

Anderson's Conn Valley Dinner: 2013 Chardonnay, 2006 Right Bank, 2006 Eloge, and 2006 Reserve Cabernet (in that order). We added this wine so we could have a Pinot Noir and drank it between the Chard and the three 2006 reds.
A major surprise given WA's review. Everyone liked it. A light a-typical CA Pinot. Not as extracted as some of the others I usually drink. It was refreshing and paired well with the Tuscan bean soup.

This is a nice Russian River Pinot Noir, fruit forward with cherries and red fruit flavors. Drinking well right now, it will last about 5 more years. Overpriced at $50, a bargain at the $25 I paid for my first 3 bottles and a screaming bargain at $18.99/bottle that I found for a case lot.

Consistently year after year a solid pinot made in modern style. Rich and dense, dark color, dark fruit, very silky on the palate. Developed much more interesting characters after 3-4 hours.

A very agreeable Pinot with sufficient fruit and structure. a different flavor profile than my usual Dumol and Kosta wines, but running with them. Guests who don't like tannic wines loved this. Well made and anticipated each sip. Not dense or syrah like but somewhat true to the grape. Recommended.

Great 2010, pinot noir, tobacco, chocolate, cloves and spice, rich fruit, berries and raisins. Silky tannins with a medium finish. Wish I'd bought a couple more.

From 750ml, stood for days, then PnP. Nose and palate of faint raspberries - all very red fruit profile. Perky cola on the palate. Medium finish. Fun but uncompelling to me.

This Pinot just gets better with age. More depth and concentration of strawberry and cherry infused fruit. Like last year, hints of chocolate with even more silky smooth tannins. World class, collectible Pinot.

Not screw cap, bottle sealed with cork. Deep violet colour. Popped and poured. Absolutely loved the nose on this one. Mix of oaky, fruity, earthy, and a hint of roses. On the palate, deep raspberries and blackcurrant. What made me buy this was the refreshing "coca-cola" mouth-feel I got during the tasting. Good balance. Long finish. Some of my friends were bothered but a slight bitter note towards the finish. Didn't bother me though. Excellent quality for the price. Only gripe was that the wine seemed to deteriorate after 3 hours - tasting heavy and alcoholic, and the nose dissipated.

I like this wine but I have had better Pinots from Paul Hobbs and given its price I would expect more with its lineage. The wine has nice notes on the nose of berries and on the palate, cola and dark fruit. Good wine but not memorable.

Unlike the last Hobbs Pinot Noir bottle, this exhibited great depth and rich dark cherry-like fruit. For a Pinot, this had an almost chewy, chocolate like texture and taste. Not sure what happened in the last five months, but I want more of this!

It's not often you see a >$30 wine in a screw-top bottle, but props to them for the gutsy presentation, and of course it doesn't make any difference with modern wines. This is a very typical Russian River Pinot, quite good in an understated way.

I've been haunted (in a good way) by a bottle of the 2008 vintage of this same wine since tasting it a couple years ago. So I was chomping at the bit to open a 2010 I recently ordered from a retailer and had shipped a short distance. Upon opening, this wine was straight COLA. I happen to enjoy that in a California Pinot but the accompanying [miniscule] amount of effervescence really had me thinking I should have either let it rest a little more after shipment OR let it rest in cellar a couple years. At any rate, the flavor profile here is very enjoyable. Typicaly CA Pinot markings with some peculiar but enjoyable graham cracker crust and rum on the palate. I'd buy another bottle or two if I could find it south of say $45.

Similar tasting notes as GoBlue2002 - Purple in color, not red. This had a mixed taste of dark and red berries, Blueberries, boysenberry & Rasperries with very mild spice. A bit too "fruity" at first, but this was a Pop n pour. After 45 minutes in the glass it opened up and mellowed, Much more approachable at that point. I would recommend letting this age for a few years before opening. Excellent wine, not outstanding though. I preferred the '08 & '09 over this

Let breathe in bottle for two hours. Nice light styling. Lighter ripe strawberry cream, cotton candy, linen. Some serious funk and sweet spice box as well. The palate is a little juicy, balanced with a nice medium body mouth feel. Really nice and showing its youth. This should be stellar in a few years. Really enjoy this style of Pinot from this classic winery.

Honeymoon Wine Tasting; 6/25/2012-7/3/2012 (California - Napa & Sonoma Counties): Tasted at Winery. Dark purple in color with heavy extraction, with aromas of black cherry and raspberry. The wine is structured, with a medium body and balanced acidity. The finish is of moderate length with minimal complexity. Needs 1-2 yrs.

A good example of a typical RRV Pinot. Medium to full-bodied with good depth of fruit flavor and some complexity. A bit of heat that I'm beginning to associate with RRV, but not intense enough to be off-putting.
