I guess this is what you get from the low end of 2010! I've tasted many different "value" 09's, which have all been approachable out of the bottle, and this was a totally different experience.
My wife took one sip and was done. She said it was too harsh, and I couldn't argue with her.
So much tannin and alcohol it was off putting. Decanted in the glass, but it didn't help. It seemed like there was something waiting in the background, but I'm not sure what that would be, and whether you would want to wait.
This was a big bruiser for $12. Unless the half bottle I saved for tonight has transformed, I would probably pass on this. Maybe I'm just more of an 09' kind of guy?
Night two: Left with a cork in it in the cellar. Wow, this wine doesn't seem to change. I got my wife to try it again, and she wanted to spit it out. I decanted it for several hours, and it never got better. Just that same overpowering toxic flavor from the night before. I'm sorry, but I don't think this was a flawed bottle. Half a bottle poured out.
I opened a 2008 Sangiovese and had a much better experience.

Blueberry, oak and herb nose. Alcohol and young grape aroma fades with lengthy decanting. On the dry side of merlot. Light sourness and tannin up front followed by mineral and oak. Firm tannin and blueberry finish. Would like to try this again in '15

Sulfur, berry, and bark nose. Clean, structured tannins right away, backed with alcohol-forward fruits. Tersely dry towards the finish. Abrupt and snappy. Tannin intense. Better with time, but showing promise. Faint whiffs of twig smoke and pink pepper.

Paid $12.99 in San Francisco, which is at the high end, but still thought this was a terrific value. Delicious, well-balanced blend, with fruit on the nose, minerality on the palate and some spice on the finish. Drinks like a $25 wine and will surely get better in the cellar.

Terrific value bordeaux blend. Predominately merlot with just the right amount of cab sav and cab franc for a nicely nuanced wine. Aromas of cassis, leather, vanilla and a hint of herbs on the back end. Improved with 2 hour decant.

What a bottle of wine for the price! $9.00? not overdone; nuanced. Definitely dominant merlot, but enough franc and cab to make it both smooth, and complex. very good finish.

2010 Subilaux is mainly Merlot blended with a little Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc from 10-15 year old vines. There will be a Daily Flash offering with far more details…but as with Guilbonnerie, the wine will sell out fast and I don’t’ want any of you to lose. This Bordeaux has a beautiful fruit driven nose…blueberry and black currant flavors please my palate to no end. It is juicy and balanced… ripe, firm tannins… and a medium to long finish.
