Quite mute at first but opened up after half an hour, with some marshmallow, truffle, candied lemon peel and cheese rind (in a good way). Delicious with food -- only knock would be the slight, distracting bit of heat on the back end. I served this at close to room temp.

Bruno Giacosa Tribute Dinner (Casa Tartufo, Singapore): Idiosyncratic, but really quite good. It had a fascinating nose, not oxidised in spite of its orange colour, instead it was a dry, flinty bouquet, with clay and stone and neutral white fruit. Nice. The palate was lovely. Muscular and almost structured through skin contact, it coated the palate with full, powerful flavours of white fruit, pear and more spicy notes, all dovetailing into long, powerful, mineral finish. A really characterful wine that went beautifully with food.

Oxidative style whites and orange wines: Amber colour. Nose of mild caramel, tart orange, orange, olives. Pleasant sweetness and tannin on the palate. This was an extremely interesting, excellent wine. Don't be afraid to try it - especially if you can get a mature bottle!

The Wines of Josko Gravner (Wine-pages.com SuperBOWL, Glasgow): A deeper, brassier colour Very concentrated nose, feeling oxidised with overtones of furniture polish. Much more pleasing than the Ribolla. Fuller and rounder with interesting flavours. Very savoury. Very long indeed.

Sweet apricot, spicy clove/nutmet, and flowers. Well balanced with ample tannins from the long skin contact. Medium-bodied, quite elegant and expressive wine. Evolves nicely in the glass. Really wonderful. ****

Cleveland Offline (Lockkeeper's): Very oxidative and intense. Orange peel, star anise, pears, even cheese notes. Long, long finish. Outstanding and amazing.

Mild and friendly. Mild tannin, coconut on the nose. Reminds me of a white Burg in fact. A wow wine, WOTN for me.

Like a Joly wine. Slightly sherry and dried floral, Dusty finish, like cheese rind. Incredible floral nose. A total wow, completely my style of wine.
