This last bottle was the tops. Nose was very much like our 2017 bottle -- tar and smoke was big. Palate was deep nebbiolo fruit, earth, mushrooms, still significant acidity, and moderate tannins at the end. A gem.

Not as spectacular as the last bottle last year. Still a lovely bottle of Produttori, but the nose was more muted, and the palate has lost some of its brightness. Still full of sumptuous nebbiolo fruit. So, unless this was a one-off, the wine may be peaking. I'll see with the next bottle.

This has really soared since 2015. Nose is bigger than ever, with tar and smoke and dark cherries. And I have to quote from earlier: "Palate is bright with nebbiolo fruit, yet there is a darkness and earthiness which gives it depth. The acidity is part of that brightness along with a bit of spice." Eventually tannins kick in and this wine just kicks ass, all along the flavor profile. I'm pushing the ideal drink by date back to 2018 because it is NOT over any peak at this point. Just keeps on giving.

Dark cherry and smoke on the nose. Palate is bright with nebbiolo fruit, yet there is a darkness and earthiness which gives it depth. The acidity is part of that brightness along with a bit of spice. More significant tannins that previous bottles -- this has good structure and long legs, so not nearly at or over its peak.

Dark cherry and smoke on the nose -- a big nose. Palate is bright with nebbiolo fruit, yet there is a darkness and earthiness which gives it depth. The acidity is part of that brightness. Then, there is a nice transition of tannin that extends for a long time in echoes of pleasing dustiness. Still young and at the top of its game for at least a couple more years, maybe longer.

Can't write a detailed note but another bottle of this that is drinking really great. Has all the classic signs of a luscious barbaresco. Not the deepest expression of nebbiolo, but a lighthearted, bright happy version.

Excellent vin pour le millésime. Bon le premier jour, vraiment très bon les deuxième et troisième jours. Beaucoup de matière, vin déjà bien évolué. A boire.

Nose is the most intense level of smoky tobacco I've ever smelled. Also a bit of floral under the smoke. The palate is bright, fruity, spicy, acidic. Very spirited flavor. Modest drying tannins at the end.

Again this vintage has maintained power. Nose has rich nebb fruit and a bit of smoke. Tastes take about 45 min. minimum to open but they really get deep with earth, dark fruit, definite acidity, and more tannins than before. Takes a good 1.5 hrs to show completely.

The nose has gained some richness and smoke to go with the big nebbiolo fruit. The palate has gotten deeper with some dark cherry note and an earthiness and good acidity and modest tannins. Really well rounded and developing to a hgher level than before.

Nose has lovely nebbiolo fruit with slight astringency characteristic of this grape (a faint lemony note). Palate is rich and austere at the same time and rides on a nice acid layer, and ends with medium tannin hit that is well integrated. Still fresh and youngish.

Has developed very well since 3yr ago. Needs at least an hour open. Nose is rich with big nebbiolo fruit. Palate is bright fruit and floral notes, good acidity, with an unctuousness. Tannins kick in after an hour or so. Still can use some time to grow. Could end up above 90.

This is pretty interesting, but not necessarily in a good way. The nose is quite nice with violets, ripe cherries and leather. The palate carries the cherries, but in a medicinal, cough syrup way, with drying tannins that just clamp down. Thin, and slightly off balance, ultimately there's not much to recommend here.

strong and inviting on the nose with subdued fruit behind earthy, lots of bitter and tannic elements on taste, some grape Robitussen, fairly thin and bland otherwise, although decent finish. i put this as 5th out of 6 in the flight. average but boring at the moment (79)
b's notes - soft but still full of flavor (86)

Drinkable Produttori! Whoo Hoo! Sweet and delicious. Almost lacking Barbaresco-ness in its forward, lush quality. As deep and dense as other wines from them? No, but this is a sweetheart of a wine that will give you something to do while everything else sits around.

Decent Nebbiolo character with red fruit and floral elements, med-bodied, a little tannic bite. Juicy midpalate, not particulalry complex. Gret with Florentine braised beef, but at this price ppint I prefer some of the 2003 Barbarescos such as Vietti and Ca' del Baio.

First try at this 2002 version of the usually delicious Produttori offering. Clearly needs time open, since it was somewhat unbalanced for the first hour. Rich nose, but taste was unclear. But then about an hour in, the nose became dark and floral, and the taste started melding very well. It had good fruit at the front, and a strong tart aspect in the middle and an unctuous and tannic ending. Will let this sit for a year or so before going at it again, to see if it needs time.

Slow to open, but then floral and aromatic. Smooth and tannic in the mouth, with nice balance, good nebbiolo character, and some black licorice showing. Nice wine, should improve for several years.
