  • We really liked this wine when we first tried it around 2.5 years ago in 2013. Not so much with with this last bottle in the cellar, so either a possibly a bad bottle or perhaps past its prime

  • It takes a while before it opens up, but when it does it´s generous and fruity (grape, lemon, pineapple) with a touch of minerals and white flowers at the end. On the palate it´s just as generous, with a good, silky, smooth body, refreshing acidity, and a fair amount of lemon and exotic fruit. The finish is more than ok with some minerals right at the end. I think this wine will develop even further, and for the better, for some years yet.
To an "Arroz de tamboril" - a lovely match!

  • Nectarine and white floral nose. Nectarine, pineapple, and grapefruit on the palate, which boast a very good balance of acidity and fruit. Voluptuous mouthfeel, like an Oregon pinot gris, but with an astringent finish, which is actually a nice touch. Interesting wine. This gets better with time in the glass.

  • I agree with JVG. Very nice nose of fruit and flowers, and exotic fruit combined with lemon on the palate makes it a nice experience. Easy drinking with lots of taste.

  • Color: Straw yellow

Nose: Explosive bouquet of fresh fruit and flowers, with dominant fruit aromas of yellow and white peach, pear, lychee, and a lemon-lime citrus backbone combined with perfumed white flower notes of gardenia and lily.

    Mouthfeel: Voluptuous but not fat.

Palate: The fruit is more exotic and tropical here than on the nose, tending toward pineapple, mango, and kiwi. Very generous and forward, but has enough acid to stay lively. The finish is clean and crisp, and the wine is therefore quite refreshing.

This is a very enjoyable, very well made wine. Great fruit, pure, clean, and refreshing, and good texture. It's very primary and fruity, which keeps its just south of 90 points for me, but I was happy with the purchase.

  • Light straw color. Pretty nose of white flower, honeysuckle, apricot, white pepper, and saline. Medium to full bodied, with good acidity and a round, creamy mouthfeel. Aside from the body, a light flavor profile, with some lemon, green apple, grapefruit, and subtle stone fruits. A mineral hint lingers. Very fresh. Medium finish. Nice wine, but I think appropriately priced in the $10-15 range. Worked fine w/ scallops tonight, but aperitif or salad pairing (not too strong/acidic dressing) would be better.

  • Picked this up from Cinderella wine, if I recall. A bit overhyped, but low $20s, which is what WineSearcher shows, not the price of $50s here.

This gets better with some air. 12.5% is modest for white wine, but in line for the region and style so no extra brownie points for that.

    Light, pale yellow color.
Nose of white peach, tangerine skin, white grapefruit
Bright acid in the mouth. Could use more texture in mouth & mid palate, but bright, fun, vibrant.
A quaffer that goes down easily.
Best as an apertif wine, or with oyster or salads.

  • Fresh smell of apples. Overloaded by fruit. Good concentration. Low in acidity. A very good wine in its style, but not very interresting. Reminds of a new world wine.

  • I like this Alarinho Verde when it is fresh, as it reveals an exuberant aromatic profile with tropical fruit and floral notes. The palate is balanced and solid, with a core of fruit and a mineral wrapping. The finish is medium-long with notes of citric fruit and bluestone. Vinho Verde at its best. Drink between 2012-2013.
