The end of an era, or the end of our Eras. We thoroughly enjoyed our bottle of a 2010 Era with filets. A very elegant wine with nice depth of flavors and a very smooth finish.

Needs at least the 90 minutes decant and probably a little more, as it opened up more on the second glass. Rich, color and nose with a pleasing long finish. This has quite a few years left to drink at peak.

A fantastically delicious wine, so smooth and elegant with great melded layers of flavors. Three bottles of this have been sleeping in our cellar for the last 9 years; decided to wake one up. Was a perfect pairing with our ribeyes.
The wax seal was incredibly tight and the long cork was pristine. This could easily go for another 9 years in our cellar, but our last 2 bottles will not likely last that long.

I was a little disappointed in this one and I wonder whether this bottle, an auction purchase, has been stored as well as it could have been. On opening the color was dark and youthful, the nose had medium intensity and some promising notes of those signature alpha omega aromas (hard to describe but I find them in all their wines) dark berries, violets. Flavor was more muted on the first taste so let it sit in the decanter as planned over many hours. It did improve and open up a bit over 4+ hours, but the fruit intensity just wasn’t there and there weren’t enough tertiary flavors to make it more interesting. The structure was still there although tannins were smooth enough to be pleasant drinking. I was hoping to get a sense of how my younger ERA’s might age (I have ‘15-‘18) . Either 2010 was not the best vintage to choose, these just don’t have the long life that is hoped for, or this bottle was off. I am hoping it was the last of those as there are some other recent reviews that are better than mine.
Decanted for 1 hour and consumed 2 hours after. Violets and smoke on the nose, big body, a classic Napa Cabernet Blend. The tannins, oak and fruits are in perfect balance and the finish is OMG!
I will give this 94+ because I believe it will gain complexity within the next 3-5 years and keep drinking nicely for at least 10.

Decanted four hours. Got much better with the air time. Nicely integrated, good balance of fruit and acidity. Hints of graphite and eucalyptus mixed in. 30 second finish. Reminded me a little bit of an aged Chateau Montelina can.

Surprisingly tight. Needed decanting for 2 hours before really became integrated. More earthy and less "showy" than the 2007, but great wine in its own right.

Opened this up and decanted for 4 hours prior to dinner with friends, We also opened a 2002 Verite La Joie and a 2005 Opus One. This was so much better than the other two. Very Bold with nice dark fruit some tobacco. The tannins have softened and this is drinking well. Had with Filet Mignons.

This was a delicious Cabernet. Silky tannins, beautifully integrated fruits, rich Blackberry and dark fruit flavors with lightly spicy notes. Wonderfully crafted!

God this is good. Great dusty attic nose. Palate is super dense fruit. Shockingly smooth. I normally like more funk and earth or spice but I gotta say, this wine is smooth is is impressive. Love it.

Primary nose of blackberries and currants. Some chocolate and some oak. The palate takes about an hour to start showing deep dark fruit, chocolate, leather and a little pencil lead. Very long, mouth coating and satisfying. Delicious wine with steak.

85/10/5 Cabernet/Cab Franc/Merlot. 24 months 80% new French oak. Nose is quite dark, linear, sharp blackberry, cassis. Palate is gorgeous, layered with black fruits and oak notes, very classic full Napa profile. Long finish, great wine. Big price too, though.

I barrel tasted this at the winery and was blown away by it. The first bottle I opened when I received my shipment didn't really perform so great. Was a bit too tight. Going to give it some time, and update my review afterwards. I expect it to rebound.

At the winery during PNV week. Dark ruby red color, fruit forward nose, floral notes. Very young but approachable now. Vanilla oak, dark fruits, cassis. This will keep getting better, excellent wine

A big wine, dark berries and nice fruit that will will age nicely. Drinking at about a 91points to me now and will only improve as it ages and integrates. I think that this and the stage coach vintage will be wonderful wines. It will be very interesting to watch this wine evolve as I feel it is and will be a special wine. 91 points and climbing with time.

Two Burgundy lovers and their weekend in Napa Valley (SF/NAPA): Recently bottled. I really enjoy the Era everytime I have it. The blend of grapes is very well put together as it's a big wine with opulent blue fruit but it throws off spice, cedar, violet flavors on the palate to give it layers of complexity as the acid helps give it that nice purity on the palate. Still a bit tannic but a really good drink.

Barrel sample. Purple in color. Nose of red fruit and anise. Tastes of blackberry, leather, and earth. Firm tannins. Full bodied with lots of structure. Power finish than seem a bit shut down at the moment.
