Grumpy bottle; normally these are in their prime drinking window at 14 years. Distinctly reduced (sulfide) aromas on opening, partially dissipates over 2 hours but not completely. A sharp tannic edge partially obscures the fruit which seems a bit more primary than expected, also uncharacteristic for this wine at this age. Not overtly damaged but wondering if my bottles from this year are off.

This is no question a stunningly beautiful wine in the making! Superb texture, most refined, yet fresh transparency and wonderfully fine tannin. If you wait 5 more years, this would have put on some serious weight and its blossoming will be stunning. Cheers,

Just very enjoyable burgundy. Light but vivid fruits and berries. A little weak on the finish but by then who cares. Medium Ruby, not brown edges, and still holding its own. At least two more years. This was much better than my last bottle a few years back.

Decanted for two hours. Showing signs of age but retaining a fresh, juicy acidity. Aromas of cherry, apricot and rhubarb. Herbaceous with notes of spice, earth, and umami. Flavors of tart cherry, cranberry, and orange peel. Light bodied with soft and silky tannins and a medium finish of bright acidity.

I do dig this. It's light, the color is a see through dark Ruby. It has light legs. It's a lighter mouthfeel. And I am enjoying that unusual airy aspect I'm finding, yet alone in a burg. The nose is red fruit, rubarb, tea, and some earth. The front hits with raspberry, not a laser, just good fruit, smooth, that rubarb is there, tea moving to the middle, lower acidity, would not stand up to heavy food. The finish is the main disappointment, it fades away too fast. I've had Pommards as light and drilled it on the finish. This got lazy, so short, like the jump Ricky made for the balloon in Better Off Dead. The front would get a 94, the back gets an 87, call it an optimistic 91 overall.

86 pts

The wine is light red, almost tea like, with light to medium body. The nose is not very expressive and the palate is mainly of strawberry, rhubarb, earth and herb. The finish is not very long. I can't say that I really liked this wine very much. However, it did have a bit more going on than the La Fourtune which was about the same quality. It was interesting to try but I will not be purchasing this wine again, especially for the current price.

Pinot Noir in its purest expression. Medium to light garnet. Red cherries, raspberries, green tea, violets, spices and stalky scents on the nose. Medium to light bodied and silky-textured with balancing acidity and a medium aftertaste. Pure and clean. So enjoyable in its simplicity.
This wine has developed nicely and has become much richer. A lovely nose of red fruits and green tea. On the palate, it has sour cherry, red currents, blueberries, violets, minerality and zippy acidity. This is really in a good place for drinking.

PnP, the nose is light cherry and flowers leading into a palate with more cherry and a slight tartness with a mineral vein coming to the forefront. Light bodied with a shorter finish this does better paired with food, not a stand alone drink.

I think this wine has developed very nicely. It has notes of Bing cherries, red currents, and a hint of green tea. It has really nice fruit, but also minerality.

This is a lovely red Burgundy from the Côte châlonnais. It is light bodied, with light red fruits, including bing cherry and red currents. It has a nice acidity, which makes it go well with food.

Very light and lovely on the nose, with tons of bright fruit aromas -- think tart red cherries and red currants. The palate is still quite young with a bit of astringent tannin showing, as well as a very gentle dose of green that keeps things interesting. Light and refreshing, this is probably best just slightly colder than cellar temperature. Lovely now, but I don't expect the fruit to disappear in the next two or three years, while the tannins might soften a bit.

Everyone overrates this wine b/c it's made by Villaine. It's not a bad wine, but it's not worth $32. Odd nose, slightly disjointed. Green and stem elements. Stern and sharp on the palate, frankly it's not drinking well at all. BH rates this 89, gee that's not score inflation due to producer, is it? Nah. ;)

Pinot noir blind tasting. Germany, Burgundy, Hungary. (Szeged, Hungary (at the"club")): Tasted blind. Fresh berry-fruits, earthiness, pinot-like spiciness. Medium body, good savour intensity, delicate, biteable. Good focus on midpalate, has drive, medium-plus finish. Fine grained, little dusty tannins, vivid acidity, has grip, clean and refreshing. Very good in its class. 20 Euro

Aubert de Villaine 2010/2011 Whites and Reds (San Francisco Wine Trading Company): Light ruby. Lively black fruit and anise aromas. Essentially delicate but lovely feel and body. Moderate finish, light remaining tannins. Very good Bourgogne, but one has to ask if you would buy this instead of say a Premier Cru Savigny or Beaune for the same price.

The best Burgundy value that I know, from Cote Chalonnaise. Vibrant and alive, very persistent, elevated, so elegant and light at the same time. A masterpiece.

Very fine precise nose. Mix of red fruit, some green, like slightly under ripe strawberries. Also a mix of some herbal flavors there. Pretty good complexity really. Palate is finely balanced. Midweight but with some sap. Very good acidity, and subtle tannins underneath. Still open now and a good time to try a bottle. Should age well based on the balance. Excellent for a Cote Chalonnaise, could easily drink a lot of this.
