That’s no doubt the most intriguing and interesting wine I’ve ever had in my life. Nose and mouth are not simple and the final with this intense pepper is not common at all. Amazing wine
Everlasting finish. It starts out like a big an weighty wine but closes out with elegance. Drink it slowly and let it blossom. The 2009 has lots of life left so no hurry.

Dinner at Les 110 de Taillevent , London (Les 110 de Taillevent , London): Its been 3 year since we had this last ( Papies 92) and this continues on , big, and rich with almost a feel of an amarone that at times made it too much . Frankly maybe they lost control of the ripeness and/or extraction here that made the wine a touch overdone. Not burnt thankfully but a touch too rich. 91

Decanted. This is incredibly sweet, actually quite tawny that makes me initially wondered if it is heat-damaged. Good transparency on the palate, if flat like a grape juice, lacking acidity and tannin. Stuck in the fridge for three days. Tasted again, more maderized and showing more of the heat damage. Somm either incompetent or not transparent about his cellar condition.

Nez très aromatique, épicé entre autres, superbe bouche avec une fraîcheur surprenante, de la puissance, belle longueur et un équilibre exemplaire. Vraiment très bon. Pas surprenant que le prix de ce vin s’envole sur les encans. 93
Very aromatic nose, spices, superb balanced palate with power and freshness, nice length as well. Not surprised this wine is highly sought after on auction.

No surprise here: this wine in this vintage is simply stunning its freshness is the backbone of a velvety body full of red fruits the nose was discreet when uncorked, much more expressive the next day. can be kept in cellar for few more years

my note from ten days ago says it well, but I added a point to my score... delicious... (2/12/21 note):I feel like this wine (almost regardless of vintage) NEVER fails to rise to the challenge... I'm more a med-body wine drinking (red burg, maybe some Tempranillo or Barolo), but this wine packs a beautiful punch and yet still manages to be light on its feet, there is dark fruit in there but loads of spices, barnyard (at times), cedar, tobacco, etc... just a lovely combo for a cold night in February

Wow... what a bottle of wine, biggish (and that is not my typical style pref) with red fruit and loads of spice, but acidity and structure to lift it up and carry the full-minus body of this puppy... great sense of minerality (not really spices) to give the fruit a second dimension to balance against... WOW, lovely even as it packed a punch

Deep ruby hue. On the nose, black berries are dominant, slightly peppery. At first sip, the wine is so powerful that it invades the mouth, but it's not harsh. Tannins are smooth, black fruits jam and a final of liquorice confirms what the nose has revealed. The wine is still tense and enjoys a long length. Needs to open up at least 2 hours in a decanter. A great wine, a bit below the 1998 -my previous try- but justitying the high grade given to this bottle.

Ideally we should decanted and we had this side by side with the also excellent 2010 ( Papies 93) which is a touch less ripe and more elegant at this stage . A bit of a young modern Burgundian feel on this, ripe smoky fruit, dark fruited and then kick the herbs de Provence and soft spice. Round and very welcoming but also on the young side too. Very similar to the 2010 just a touch held back by the extra ripeness. 92

Les Gobeloteurs Wine Garden Party (Domaine Stéphane Ogier - Ampuis): Brief note from memory, tasted earlier today. Ripe black fruit aromas with sweet spice, perhaps coming across as too ripe, but then more restrained and powerful on palate with impressive concentration, weight and length. Lots of complex and ripe black fruit here.

this will likely be 93/94 with a few more years, this is a very big wine (which is generally not my thing) but so interesting on the palate with sweaty, meaty, mulch/earth and big purple fruit mingling in and among those other flavors, can really taste the Mourvedre in this baby and I like it -- not for every night but this is a nice wine for winter nights, and does well without food or with

In a great place. Tasted blind. A little coffee and roasted meat on the nose, but not too hot. And the kind of crazy, all over the place in a good way mouthfeel that Grange des Peres can have. Is it a Grenache? A powerful Pinot? But wait a second and it tastes like a Syrah and then a Mourvèdre. Good stuff.

This is open for business with a 3 hour + decant. An absolute monster but refined at the same time. A slight funk probably from the Mouverdre, but this blows off quickly. Although this wine is a chameleon over time, the rich and robust flavors of dark raspberry, vanilla, loam, and several others serve it well. What an interesting and memorable drink ! Only wish I had more since it is difficult to source. Very tasty !

used the coravin with joe to taste this favorite wine at 2am after 10 bottles, tasted like gasoline so simply corked it, tasted myself a night later and same deal, told my wife i was pouring down the drain but thought better of it, now drinking the half bottle on night three and it is just like a fantastic bottles i had in French Polynesia… deep rich palate but interesting and with the Mourvedre funk, i like them elegant and this is of another style but fantastic… not exactly sure what was up on nights one and two… all i can say is don't toss it if you have same experience, gas and cork and come back a day or three later for a treat

bought at restaurant in Bora Bora on Tiff's 50th bday night… this hit the spot, tasted (vs other earlier vintages i've had) more fruit driven, my suspicion is there is less mourvedre and more cab in this bottle, but it was still exquisite, even on a warm evening the richness was balanced by acid and savory characteristics from the non-cab/non-syrah varietals in the mix, everyone at the table was blown away… fantastic and great qpr (as always)

Bottle stored well. Almost black. Very dark and young. On the nose this wine delivers a bomb! Tons of ripe fruit, dark, lots of energy, almost a bit extracted but this wine has a freshness to it. Dark cherries, coffee, liqourice, cassis, plum, crushed stone, herbs. Generous fruit, lots of dark berries, herbs, liqourice, coffee and cocoa. If it wasn't for the acidity I would have a hard time with this, but this wine is quite balanced. Long finish. Reminds me of a CndP. Well done.

This is the most extreme Grange Des Peres ever, with this ardent concentration that almost pushes the boundaries. Stewed cherries, Turkish coffee, lava, almond cookies, melted licorice, tree resin and rose petals. A syrupy palate that has a pebbles throughout. Long and savory and still shows some elegance. This seems more like a ripe CdP. Drink 2015 - 2030.

91-92+ pts
