Color/App: medium deep yellow; large bead; low mousse. Bouquet shows heavy toast, brioche and bread dough mixed with light lemon and good minerality. Large-scaled palate of creamy lemon/lime, white flowers and serious autolytic notes. Powerful, heavy-duty champagne that I thought was very reminiscent of Egly-Ouriet Brut Grand Cru NV, though with a bit less fruit and finesse. Still, my kind of Champagne and a wonderful choice to ring in the new year (93+)

Nose of toast, brioche, spring flowers, and slate, same on the palate, medium/big body, hints of sweetness, lovely, rich, very tasty, viscous, paired with smoked salmon, terrific together, medium/long finish, photo uploaded.

In addition to the beautiful bottle, this is a very elegant champagne, higher yeast content than I normally like but very nice. Opened for a special event and my companion loved it too!

Lemon and brioche. More oxidative than the Charles Heidsieck that this replaced. Yellow fruited, nutty, brioche, smooth champagne with tiny bubbles and a refreshing finish. This Champagne can hold for another 15 years easily. This is a good wine but very different from the Heidsieck that is actually more to the neutrality line than I was expecting. This wine is clearly on the oxidative side.

Bought this at clearance from K&L for $60. Light yellow-golden color; nose has medium intensity aromatics with lemon cream; palate is medium bodied, integrated mousse, palate is a bit short, medium-minus acidity, lemon cream, slight lemon zest tartness towards the finish; finish is short-medium length. It's a decent champagne. For $60 it is decent but not exceptional value, it would be way too expensive at list $90, and it's no match for other tete du cuvees. 86

Bottled was flawed. Cork removed with almost no "pop" and the champagne itself was badly corked in addition to having almost no bubbles. Store was kind enough to give a credit on my say-so, but said they had not had any other quality reports on this champagne, so it was probably just bad luck. I do have 3 bottles more that I'm looking forward to trying.
Update 2024: Indeed have since had 2 more bottles and both were excellent (see separate review).

Brought to a dinner, didn't take notes. I'm not a big bubbles guy and at $75 it held my interest. Helpful? Probably not but I'd consider buying again to focus on what is in the glass.

Smells a bit like amerreto cookies. Kinda one note at that though. Or maybe just a touch oxidized at that. But here it is. Need another taste.

"2016" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/11/2015-10/15/2015 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {cork, 12.5%} Brown leaves, yeast, cheese. Medium creamy bubbles with medium weight; pleasant red-fruit flavours; far more pinot than the nose would suggest. The palate is evenly-balanced; with a dry finish. Pretty good, although less memorable than its elaborate packaging, it must be said.
