Cracked this open on my wife's birthday and she loved it. We let this breath a little before dinner, but I honestly don't think it was necessary or made that big of a difference. I'd give it maybe an hour. The nose was nice and powerful evoking images of giant jars full of sweet moist pipe tobacco. The high alcohol level is detectable on both the nose and the end of the palate, but everything else was also quite powerful, so this seemed in balance. Full body with a med-long finish. www.vincrush.com

Fantastic again! Pnp this one and it was very good. I'm not sure a long decant is necessary. Enjoyed this one with a filet mignon with gnocchi in a Madera cream sauce at caps in St augustine FL, fantastic!

Much better than the first bottle. Having read the other tasting notes, I realized that a long decant was in order. We gave this bottle a 24-hour decant, and it made quite a difference. It presented abundant black fruit (grape, blueberry, black raspberry), and finished with sweet dark tobacco and cedar shavings, along with tongue-drying tannins. It wasn't a Turley or Bedrock, but it was certainly enjoyable.
If you have this one, decant it for at least 24 hours before drinking.

Did a 12 hour slow ox decant in the frig. Wowza. Yields big depth, plum, licorice, earth and spice, takes off some of the pop n pour acidity. These could cellar for years yet.

Not as good as advertised. Thin, tart, short finish.
Addendum: this one improved markedly after 48 hours in a half-empty bottle in the fridge. It became more fruity and less tart, and exhibited interesting spice and incense flavors and aromas.
If you have this one, give it a long (i.e., >24-hour) decant before serving.

Deep, dense black red color. Throwing lots of sediment. Spicy, dark cherry, plum, leather and pure Monte Rosso earth goodness. One of the best wines I have ever bought on WTSO. Needs a several hour decant to fully appreciate the complexity of this wine/vineyard.

Doesn’t seem to have 16,5% alcohol. Good but overripe...not my cup of tea.

Good, but 16.5% alcohol is a bit hot, especially when older and the fruit starts to break down.
