Syrah vs. Shiraz (Cellier Wine Shop, Athens, Greece): Dark ruby. Ripe (boardering to overripe) and somewhat jammy fruit, true to the winery's signature style, with cherry/blackberry jam, noticeable oak (vanilla) and chocolate. Med+ bodied with flavors reminiscent of candied sour cherries in syrup, slightly coarse tannins and balancing acidity. Quite long aftertaste. Much better than my previous, overmature bottle.

Syrah Tasting at Avantis Estate Winery (Evia Island): Dark ruby-purple. Sweet nose with vanilla, dark chocolate, blackberry jam and sweet spice. Medium-bodied with rich fruit and firm tannins. Medium acidity and satisfying aftertaste. Might improve with another 2 years of cellaring to integrate the oak.

Deep purple with a ruby rim. Medium intensity nose that started with blackberries, liquorice, oregano and evident oak developing into heavier meaty aromas over time. Velvety on palate with coarse & polished tannins, zesty acidity & warm alcohol. Moderate concentration & length. RTD can keep for 3-4 more years.

Surprisingly overevolved with stewed berry fruit, fully resolved tannins, sweetness and a flabby aftertaste. This is prematurely overmature.
