My last bottle of this delicious CA Chardonnay. Bright and fruity in the creamy , buttery style. Delicious and a perfect match too a sunny afternoon on the deck followed by deep fried halibut and fries.

The wine looks yellow gold colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. Intense and complex nose, smells like vanilla, apricot, peach, pineapple, clay, forest floor, honey and botrytised. Full body, intense flavor, lean texture, high alcohol heat, subtle but long palate. Low acidity, perhaps due to being drank 5 years after its vintage, dry but not bone dry, very slight hint of bitterness in the finish. It tastes like passion fruit, pineapple and peach. honeydew, apricot, peach and Bartlett pear. In summary, an extraordinary complex and delicious wine.

Full, quite complex nose. Toasty oak dominates. Some depth. Good yellow pear fruit with slight nuttiness. Tropical pineapple add typical NW-ishness. Full body. Dense. Fully ready. Pineapple and papaya with pear freshness. Rather fat, oaky and buttery. Sweet vanilla in finish detracts in my book. Fresh acid, but not much of definition and grip. A tasty and typical California chardonnay of good quality that lacks elegance and length.
This was an exceptional bottle. Dark golden color with clear hue throughout. Nose of lemon oil, clove, butterscotch and a bit of oak. Similar palate with a lengthy finish. Beautiful balance here. Improves as it gets above cellar temp.

Dark yellow. Golden. Very ripe fruits, mango, banana, tropical, luscious, very delicious. Oak was well integrated. Rich in the mouth. Unctuous. I love this and I usually do not like CA chardonnay.

What more can I say about the wines of Walter Hansel... Excellent wines at fair prices. This chardonnay was a big bright wine with loads of fruit and excellent balance. Delicious

Peaches/stone fruit/melon and vanilla oak (and some sulfur) on the nose. Ripe peach/stone fruit. Good acidity upfront, ripe fruit sweetness in the middle, and a lingering citrus skin bitterness in the finish, along with some gravel dust. Strong legs with a viscous, nectar-like mouthfeel. A bit of a tongue burning harshness detracts from an otherwise fruity and luscious chardonnay.

Viscous. Tasted oakiness this time around. Sulphur still present but dissipates after a while. Then, it seems to reappear on the next day after reopening. Quite luscious when the Sulphur calms down.

I agree with Number51 from 10/22/2013 regarding the oiliness, the general lack of oakiness, and the non-overpowering butteriness. It is a luscious wine. Give it some time after opening to allow the sulfur notes to dissipate - they are a bit overpowering for about 30 minutes or so. Should go very well with a Thanksgiving feast!

A bit oily in texture, this isn't all that oaky and toasty. Sure, there are pastry and butter, but none of that is overpowering. With luscious Californian fruit, this achieves serious deliciousness without crossing the line with amount of oak. I love the lemon custard component here.

Tree fruit, stone fruit, a little bit of malo and oak but quite restrained. More Burgundian in approach. Great drinking at 8 years old

Same as my last notes: sulfur upon opening but dissipates within a day after opening. Oakiness still present. A complex Chardonnay.

Saturday wines: Rich and ripe, but the fruit is fairly pure and there is a nice base of acidity, though the wood sticks out a little on the finish.

Almost perfect Napa chardonnay- rich and buttery, but balanced, crisp and fruity. In the same league as say a Kistler, but at a lower price point.
