Took some time to open up, 1 hr. Dried dark fruit, spice, leather, yet still drinks young. Meat on palate, but more spice. Rich, full bodied. Not the most complex, but what it does it does well. Paired well with my wife's best ever meatballs! (Half CSA tribal sausage and half dry aged ground beef.) Me - 91, Wife - 93

Same observations as before. This is a big wine with lots of fruit concentration. A bit alcoholic on the nose and palate. Could use a little more acidity from my perspective to balance out the fruit and heat. (The 2007 was so good because of it's great balance, while being powerful at the same time.)

Lots of dark fruits on the nose. Good concentration, and fair amount of acidity. Not as luscious and delicious as a the 2007 vintage, but fun to drink overall.

Very dark color. Nose took a couple of hours to develop, never very assertive, mostly berry scents and alcohol. On the palate, this is a big syrupy, unctuous wine, with strong blackberry and mulberry flavors. Not much complexity, and a fair degree of heat. A little spiciness and a very rich mouthfeel. This may need more time, but I can't see much potential here. Disappointing at this price level. It's like drinking berry-flavored cough syrup. Give this one a pass.

Very deep and dark, but not particularly complex. Different overall theme than most syrahs.....not overly fruity. However, very enjoyable.
