Although pleasant to drink, this wine hasn't completely come together the way many 2011s have. It is ripe and young with incipient peach, a creamy texture, and a fair amount of sweetness, plus some herbal elements. Because it is still so young-tasting, there is the possibility of further positive development, but I doubt that crispness will ever appear. 9.0% stated alcohol. APN 14-12. Cellared since original release.

2011 will never become one of my preferred vintages. Even here very brought with lots of acacia honey which over performed the other, deeper layers of aromas a bit. You can only divine the typical Grünhaus herbs and tangerine. More like a sweet Spätlese on the palate with a bright mouthfeel. Lovely to drink right now. I'm curious to see how this will evolve over time.

Youthful nose with a medium intensity. Aromas of sulfite (which disappears quickly with air), fresh grapes, lime zest, pineapple and jasmine flower. Just a hint of petroleum.
Almost half sweet on the palate with a piercing medium(+) acidity and a medium(-) body. Medium intensity with flavors of fresh grape juice, lime juice, pineapple, green apple and green pear. The finish is medium.
A very fruity, grapey Riesling with great acidity to balance the generous sweetness. I've never tasted a Kabinett with this amount of RS. Crazy delicious anyway and will last for a long time thanks to the RS and acidity.

Was in a Riesling mood and found this absolutely gorgeous. Though I usually go for the cooler years with this, I loved the complexity and acidity of the '11. There is some exotic fruit, but not kitschy at any moment. The acidity counter-attacks the rather high sweetness like it should. Another great Kabi from this estate to last many, many years. To be had on its own, I'd say. Drink or hold.

Light yellow. Forward ripe stone fruit aromas with a touch of tropical. Rich, almost shockingly sweet for a Grunhauser Kabinett, long with excellent acidity. No complaints but I was surprised at the scale of this and how ripe and open it was.

Tasting at Maximin Grünhauser (Maximin Grünhauser Estate): Scents of stones and overripe peaches show in the glass. It has a bit of spritz when tasted, delivering nectarine and lemon lime flavors. Crisp sweetness lingers as well as flavors of older fruit.

The wine offered green apple, lime, grapefruit, apricot, grilled peppered pineapple and honey on the nose. On the palate the semi-dry wine showed apple, lime, pink grapefruit, apricot, pineapple, maracuya, a hint of honey and mineral notes, paired with medium-plus acidity and very good length. A fruity, medium-bodied Kabinett.

Mothballs and cat pee upon opening - exactly the same disturbing sulfites profile as we found in von Schubert's 11' Abtsberg Spätlese earlier this year. This is NOT terroir and the wine needs a few days in the fridge to get rid of these flaws. Then it offers quite nice and generous pit-fruit and lime flavours with a soft acid structure. Finally a disappointment, and we're not buying more.

My first 2011 and a delightful experience! Wonderful young kabinett with explosive nose of panoply of citrus, mineral and spicy tones. Not too sweet as many early rieslings can be, and no CO2 confusion. Palate fully addressed, with mineral and citrus-led flavors and bright cumquat, lime and slate tastes. This estate has really grown in stature in the past dozen years.

Pretty wine, but on the sweet side with not enough acidity and precision to focus it. Quaffable in a applejuicy kind of way but not great.

On flight (Eva business class). Petrol nose, sweetish and expressive fruit, long finish. I like this, and went well with the Japanese meal.
