Grande Champagne: Great acidity, fantastic tension, hugely complex, minerality and at the core a subtle sweetness that makes this wine not joyless despite the high acidity. Great stuff and my WOTN.
It was not universally loved, some found the acidity too high.
Outstanding wine. 95-100

A Wine Fueled Goodbye to 2023; 12/29/2023-12/31/2023 (College Station, TX): My first Tarlant above the entry level ‘zero’ and it did not disappoint. Lovely nose of florals and fruits, mostly fruit on the palate with some lemon cream. Became vinous in the glass quite quickly after the initial vigorous mousse. This was a bottle shared by AGELVIS and I think for me the nose was the standout, but I was the minority in our group. Just a lovely wine and a great way to ring in the NY.
PNP. Steely golden color. Brioche French toast, sliced pear, macadamia, and apple tart. Voluminous, medium-sized bubbles. Great acidity, with a long linger.
We toasted the New Year with two nice bottles of Champagne. This had the better bubbles and palate, but the ‘12 Drappier had better nose.

Superb intensity and freshness with great precision and cut. The flavors tend towards lemon and chalk and it improves precipitously with air. Very fine and even soil-driven. Also quite youthful and should benefit from more bottle age. 94+

Masterclass with Melanie Tarlant, vertical tasting of all currently released La Vigne d’Antan vintages. Wine #2/5. Made from ungrafted Chardonnay vines, planted in 1962. Disgorged in June 2022. Pale golden colour. Elegant aroma of apple skin, honeycomb, orange peel, smoke, chalk, iodine, hint of brioche. Palate of zero dosage is lively and intense, bone dry with astringent fine mousse, vibrant acidity and zesty pomello and lemon flavours, autolytic nuances, long persistence.

Q2 2022 Wine Club: Grower Champagne (The Apt): Wine #8: Bit biting and a bit racy and some sour and bitter as well and while none of that sounds that appealing it was actually quite a nice wine. Served warmer originally and even though it was 8th in line when I got to it it hadn't chilled down quite the same as the others. Still tasty though. (3 pennies)

Outstanding champagne. Very reach nose and palate combines with zinging acidity and minerality. Still young, worth to wait.
