Bright red cherry fruit, with nice depth and spiciness. On the 2nd day, the wine was better, showing off tobacco, earth, roses, and bright red cherry liqueur. Delicious, drink now.

55F. PnP. Medium red. Nose with cherry, blackberry, cocao. High acid and sme tannins on attack with mellowing gradually to the mid and late palate. Some red/black fruit and pepper. Medium finish. Will decant and try at dinner.

Tasted great at pop & pour but drank after 1h decant really shone. Not a profound wine but not one-dimensional either. The usual tart cherry nose was accompanied by other notes, e.g. rose petal. Went great with s'ghetti & meatballs.

2010 - 93% Sangiovese, 75% Syrah. Decanted 40 minutes. The 2010 Morellino di Scansano Heba bursts from the glass with succulent dark cherries, flowers, mint and sweet spices. This Morellino should be enjoyed over the next few years while the fruit retains its juicy, forward personality. This 2010 is a great Heba, and an excellent value. In my opinion the Heba is one of the finest wines you will find in all of Italy. The wine is now mature and should continue to be through the end of next year. Morellino takes its name from Etruscan times, when the town of Magliano was known as Heba. The label bears the image of a sculpture uncovered nearby which dates back to that era. I find that this wine is smooth, defined by succulent cherries, sweet spices, and fragrant florals. An inviting wine with juicy fruit flavors and fresh, pleasant acidity. The tannins are round and ripe. Aged 4-6 months in cement vats, followed by 6 months in bottle. I enjoyed it with a fresh Caprese, some Prosciutto, and a nice Bolognese Sauce over some Penne' pasta. Very Nice.

Nose is shy with red fruit and a hint of tobacco. The palate is med bodied, med alcohol, with tart red cherry fruit, leather, and wet earth. There are nicely astringent tannins with fairly tense, med+ acidity, making this a great food wine. Delicious now, better the next day. Drink now through 2017...but the sooner the better. Very nice.

PnP 57F Pretty light in coloration. Nose with lead, some black fruit. Light with good acidity. Some cherry and fruit on palate with light tannins. Medium long finish. Better with food. Probably decent for price but there are a few easily obtained $20 chiantis that leave it behind.

Med-dark ruby color, expressive nose. Bold tannins and acidity go with the tart cherry fruit. Pepper spice and old tobacco on the long finish. I agree with the pros who liked this sangiovese. Intense, excellent.

So tasty. This is "buy a case" wine for me at the next release. The color shows just a bit of tawny as it fades from the ruby core. The nose is certainly developing, with red cherry and blackberry fruit, tobacco, wet soil tones, barnyard. How do you get all of this for the small tariff? The palate shows off a perfectly balanced food wine, with ample but background red cherry and blackberry fruit, savory mushroom, rocky minerality. The tannins are polished and drinking beautifully, still lending some astringency to the palate, along with med acidity that makes this wine so perfect with the pasta fagiole this evening. My wife told me, "I could drink this whole bottle down, it's so tasty." The finish echoes the flavors from the palate, and is med and straightforward. This is a high quality wine, and I have now enjoyed several vintages of this wine, with similar notes. It is drinking beautifully now, and will continue to do so for through 2018 or so. Great stuff.

A pretty standard Sangiovese, with leather, cherries and a dry and slightly unpleasantly bitter black olive finish. A light body with firm acidity. This isn't great and at over £12 struggles to earn its crust. 87

I've had heavier chianti's and lighter chianti's - if this is a blend it seems to be mostly sangoivese. Bright, fresh, simple red cherry and plummy fruit on the nose and palate, bright fresh acidity and reasonably strong tannins. Doesn't strike me as a wine that will improve much. Great value and tasty.

Heavier and less fruit than I expected/remembered; the Wine Society's Chianti Rufina we had afterwards, was lighter, brighter, fresher, but the Heba had much more depth and interest.

Better two days later, after having waited in the fridge. The Syrah comes through on the nose, and provides a nice complement to the cranberry flavors on the palate, but honestly I wish it wasn't there as it takes away from the freshness of the Sangiovese. The elevated acidity makes it a good complement to gamy meats. Solid, but nothing outstanding about it, other than the price. A wine to serve slightly chilled.

Great QPR. Will definitely improve with age. Just back from 3 weeks in Italy. Wine at least twice every day sometimes tastings in mid afternoon also! Thus wine stands up to most of what we tasted.

I think this one may need a bit more cellaring. Drank after a 3h decant and still wasn't too open. But what's there is quite nice with classic sangiovese nose and flavors (tart cherry, forest floor, good acid) and tannins are not very noticeable.

Not surprisingly very Chianti-like; med body, med fine tannin, good acidity, black cherry and other deep black fruit; it opened up and rounded out a bit after an hour or so. Nice wine.

Day 1: Opened with aromas of earth, mushroom and cedar. Taste of moderate levels of red fruits. Day 2: Strong fruit aromas of cherries. Cherry taste increase and become bolder with time; very rich fruit flavor.
Definitely a different wine on day 2 than day 1. On day 1 I would serve it with traditional Tuscan grilled meets whereas on day 2 I would server with barbecued ribs or meats with a fruit glaze.

lovely juice, but the spectacular aromatics (anise, tobacco, much more) weren't on full display until the bottle had been open for 24 hours. i'd cellar for 1-3 years before drinking.

Heavy sediment in bottle (assume this is what made the last bottle taste of mud) and 'rustic' tannins as DrRobVino commented. Very good with food but might need a bit more time for the tannins to settle.

First two glasses were wonderful; deep evocative nose, luxurious palate of cherry, flowers, herbs etc. Then a taste of earth/dirt started to emerge and quickly became the dominant flavour; very offputting. Left half the bottle and came back to it the next night but it persisted. Definitely not corked so not sure what was happening here. Will try another bottle to see if it's any better.

No formal TN. Consumed over 3 days. This very well made Sangiovese showed tart red cherries and minerals on the nose, with med bodied palate showing complexity, raspberry and tart cherry fruit, rocks, and leather. A beautiful, med(+) acidity coupled with med level tannins that are a tad bit rustic at first, but really rounded out over a few days, gave this wine nice structure, and helped the wine's med length, tart red fruit and wet earth finish. Held up quite well over 3 days, showing a nice potential for near / med term ageability. But this is a high quality wine that is meant to drink sooner than later; over the next 3-4 years ideally. Delicious.

I have had other vintages of this wine; perhaps this bottle was flawed? Somewhat thin fruit and a lot of alcohol, with no finish to speak of. Chalk it up to a flaw. The cork was intact, but who knows what this went through prior to arriving in my cellar?

Slightly opaque ruby color. Complex aroma with violet predominating, followed by strawberries, hint of pepper, mushrooms. Something else herbal in there I couldn't identify, but reading Galloni's review on the label I agree it could be mint. Perfumed fruit on the palate with a long finish nicely framed by acid.
