Decanted for 1h then back into bottle. Drank over 3h. From memory. Near the 4 mark after decant, beautiful seamless palate with apples, unripe peaches, lovely minerals, herbs and a hint of petrol. Excellent balance. Drinking really well but I think will evolve further with some more age.

Stone fruit, tart peach, lemon, minerals, and a hint of petrol on the nose. Lovely acidity, rounded out by riper fruit and citrus without being too rich. Nice finish. Great wine that manages to be delicate and crisp yet with plenty of ripeness.

The Zilliken Saarburger Rausch GG was pretty darn lovely. Floral on the nose with some petrol. Apple and mineral in prodigious quantity along with a faint hint of vanilla. There is a touch of acidity and lime but perhaps maybe a little more would have been nice, since it is a Großes Gewächs. Excellent.

Tasty dry Riesling. This was on the expensive side for my personal comfort zone, and I am not sure this bottle rose to the level that would make this a repurchase for me. Green apple, petroleum, and white pepper on the nose, repeated on the palate. Very good (but not quite enough) acidity, which is my only real drawback on this wine. Drink now through 2030.

My rating may reflect that I was pleasantly surprised after reading the reviews of others. Yes, it could use more acidity, but it has great minerality and nice balance. Perfectly dry with peach and honey aromas. A very nice riesling for the price.

91-92. Peach more than anything now, and pretty for sipping, but not terribly interesting or complex. Way too low in acidity. Let me reemphasize that having bought 6 of these on Wine Bid for a song-or so I thought, ($40) sometimes you get what you pay for. I still can't figure out what JG and MFW were tasting.

This is my 5th of 6 bottles and it's very possible we've drunk the others too soon. Finally we get some expressive grapefruit, quince, peach and mineral notes, and a nice finish. Not a great wine but more interesting than it's been. Possibly it still needs a few more years although at this point I can't see it earning Gilman's score

I thought I had written notes from before as this is my third or fourth bottle, but perhaps not. I simply can't understand JGs score or MFWs either, since these have been very disappointing at best to downright bad-not spoiled just with no varietal character or complexity. This one is tart grapefruit and some minerality but that's about it.
Could this be some mistake? I thought I got a great deal on 6 bottles a few years ago on WB, but I guess there is no free lunch.

Rieslingfeier - Seminar with David Schildknecht, Andreas Adam, Thomas Haag, Florian Lauer and Dorothee Zilliken (Bar Boulud, New York, NY.): 12% alcohol. 7.9 g/l RS, 6.9 g/l acid. Medium/light yellow. Subtle nose - reticent. Minerals and steel - dusty. On the palate: lime and lots of acid - lemon. Lots of minerals as well. Not showing the breadth of flavors like the Schloss Lieser (the previous wine in the flight). Very focused and elegant however. Showing lots of stone fruit pit bitterness in the finish. Nose - 4/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 14/20.

Drank over 3 days, became better and better. I have another bottle and should wait another 5 years I guess.

Missing acidity, concentration, and intrigue. I agree with others - this was a disappointing dud.

Weak aroma, almost no aftertaste. Seems that alcohol is much higher than stated. Clearly not recommended.

Big fruit, but balanced enough to be refreshing. Still, like many 2011s, it would benefit greatly from more cut.

Rieslingfeier - Seminar with David Schildknecht, Andreas Adam, Thomas Haag, Florian Lauer and Dorothee Zilliken (Bar Boulud, NYC): A fascinating contrast with the "Diabas" bottling. Dorothee Zilliken says this comes mainly from older vines on slate in the Rausch, whereas the Diabas parcels are on volcanic stone. This has a broad palate presence; it's rich and powerful with ripe pear and lime fruit and a solid stony mineral base beneath. Impressive, though not particularly charming.
