  • Smelled of almond croissant, meringue, light caramel, sweet cream, clover, candied lemons and jasmine tea. Similar, delicious flavors; again, the almond croissant, with a definite sweetness of fruit/oak. Superb concentration, complex oak tannins and mouthfeel, focus, length, and an oily, forever finish added to the case of flavors to create something very, very fine. Time in glass yielded increased density of flavor, additional aromatic notes, and more pleasure. Absolutely delicious.

  • Lovely mid gold, hint of green. Nose of citrus and acacia with a whiff of dry sherry. Absolutely lovely older Puligny. Still lemon and lime, honey, and white flowers but also more complexity. Hazelnut oiliness, fruit stones and "good" oxidation, like a fine amontillado. Maybe not so buttery as early on but still a fine richness.Stunning length and good acidity. Not a hint of POX here and Colin-Deleger certainly got caught up in this later on. It may be a lottery these days but there are still some winning tickets!

  • a wonderful puligny 1er. aromas of lemon, almond, minerals, stone-fruit and even almost tropical notes with white flowers. layered and intense with superb concentration and precision maintained by a wonderfully balanced acid and mineral structure. great length. as long as you don't hit a premoxed bottle, this should be able to last quite some time.

  • This was an interesting experience because I had another '96 white burg (1996 Corton-Charlemagne Rollin Père et Fils) that was much more youthful in appearance and for my palate, was much, much better. So I wasn't sure how to make of the color of the wine. The color was almost corn-like. The nose had aromas of brown butter, fresh coconut, and caramel. The palate was full bodied, a bit oily like a northern Rhone, with notes of butterscotch, aged coconut, and just a hint of ripe pineapple. I think this wine would be much, much better with bit more acidity and citrus notes.

  • Fairly golden, aged color. Pungent nose of caramel, brown sugar and butterscotch. Wow, this bottle is really firing and it"s classic aged white Burgundy with wonderfully complex flavors of white flowers, hazelnuts, minerals and caramel. The fruit is deliciously sweet and the finish is very concentrated with good intensity. If anything, perhaps lacks a bit of elegance and breed but this is a stunning glass of Burgundy drunk at its zenith.

  • Colour - Light gold/straw
    Aroma - minerals, graphite, light florals, peach, nuts, cream.
    Palate - balanced, oily textured and complex with mineral, white stone fruit and cream. Much more focused than the Demoiselles and lovely long lingering clean finish. No cork problem or oxidation. Consistent with tasting 10 months ago.

  • Bright Yellow,
    Lovely aromas of minerals, graphite, light florals, peach, nuts, cream.
    On the palate it is balanced, oily textured and complex with mineral, white stone fruit and cream. There is good acid and backbone and great length - not to much of anything. Lovely long lingering clean finish. Remember - a wine for the next dinner party - ready to drink but far to good for a mid-week indulgence.
